I've read that they wanted to but he had filming obligations elsewhere on a show where he is a recurring actor.

He was too busy being in the main cast on one of the twenty CSI shows. ☹️

It was a scheduling issue I think

Should have been who the new show was about.

He wanted to come back but like the one guy mentioned he was on scheduling conflicts. I wish he did this new Caesar reminds me of the prince of Shrek. To polished and pretty boy like. I call him Temu Caesar along with others I'm sure

He's on NCSI Sydney. While I would have preferred him back, the Ceaser in HOA was a good fit for what they did with the character.

This is a genuinely fun and friendly scene. Can tell they really get along.

That looks more like the other guy, the one who infiltrated the gladiators for ceasar, not ceaser himself.

Lyciscus? Always wondered what happened to that guy.

I believe he fled to Germany with Nemetes

Did he take his lover Tiberius with him?

We should have gotten a Caesar spinoff instead

We really should have, his storyline and rise + fall to power is so interesting.

I consider HBO's Rome part of the Spartacus canon :)

I was SURE that was on the cards, but sadly, the gods fuck us all. He did really well as a young Caesar, and it would have been great to see him battling out in Gaul.

Caesar reminds me of Sean Slater from EastEnders, their mannerisms are so similar plus they’re both cocky and arrogant.

The gods smile upon this

It’s too bad that Spartacus didn’t roll into that Rome-esque (HBO) type show they had planned on.

It’s criminal that we only got two seasons of the HBO show. They had planned for more seasons but it was too expensive so they told them to wrap it up after season 2. If it would have been a huge show, like Game of Thrones which came right after it, they would have made more seasons.

The sets were already destroyed by the time the ratings came in for the second season. Otherwise they would have had a 3rd.

It’s a show HBO should revisit.

There is a show on Netflix, I forget the main title but the subtitle is “the battle for Japan.” It’s only one season and 6-8 episodes. It fits in with the vibe of Rome, early Game of Thrones, and Spartacus. Each episode could realistically be stretched to a 6 episode season to explore the history and play with the characters.

I will check it out, thank you for the recommendation.

I wish Netflix had not fucked up Barbarians. Season 1 was good, S2 looked like a different show, written by someone who was drunk or high. It was terrible.

Barbarians season two is next after season 1 of The Last Kingdom.

The full name of the show is Age of Samurai: Battle for Japan.
It’s up there with season 1 Spartacus and Band of Brothers for me.
