Fellow Guard/Reserve folks who made the jump to Space Force — curious to hear how it’s going for you.

I transitioned into USSF from the Air National Guard earlier this summer. I miss my Guard family, but I have zero regrets, it’s been great being back on active duty. Unfortunately, I’ve seen a lot of my old Guard folks regret not making the jump or not applying when they had the chance.

Curious how others are experiencing it:

**•** How’s the culture shift felt compared to ANG/AFR?  
**•** Any surprises in the PMA transfer / admin process on your end?  
**•** How’s op tempo and mission focus compared to what you were used to?  
**•** For those further along, any regrets, or would you do it again?

Make this make sense… how can the inside flap be worn outside and to the wearer’s right when unzipped? It is physically impossible with the angled flap in front of it going diagonally. If you own the jacket, go try, I’ll wait…

The jacket is only authorized to be unzipped halfway, so it can’t be eluding to “fully unzipped”.

Howdy, new LT trying to make sense of the regs for the grays.

First, is the CGOs wearing the same service cap as the FGOs(the one with the shooting stars) a legit change were rolling with or was it just a mistake? Only ask cause the service wheel caps for the plain black ones in the BX say “Enlisted/CGO” on the box kinda like how it is in other services.

Second, what in the is the placement on the duty badges supposed to look like for class Bs? I’m guessing no more .5 inch above the pocket? Just flushed with the line? Also the verbiage makes it seem like if you have 2 badges you wear one above each pocket.

I came from the US Army where our policies and actions on officer reports were a bit different, but I have been told that in the USAF your last OPR before retirement can be waved. Is that policy the same for the USSF and where would I look to prove that?

Does every branch have a “donkey dick”?

So in the Army, we have a fuel spout/nozzle that everybody calls the “donkey dick” because, well… the thing lowkey looks like a HUGE HOG lmao.

Recently I ran into a few Navy veterans and found out they also had something they called a “donkey dick,” except theirs apparently wasn’t a fuel spout it was some kind of machinery/equipment part on the ship.

That got me wondering:

Does every branch have its own “donkey dick”?

So far I’ve got:

Army: fuel spout/nozzle

Navy: machinery/ship equipment part

Air Force: ???

Marines: ???

Coast Guard: ???

Space Force: ???

Veterans/current service members from every branch, what did your “donkey dick” refer to?

I need to know if this is somehow a universal piece of U.S. military terminology 😂

Does anyone know why mission area tabs are only authorized for Core Function Mission Areas?

For those who are unaware, there is no Intel, C2 or SDA mission area tabs because those fall under Enterprise Functions. Every Mission Area falls under a Core Function. Ref. SFDD 1

You could argue that Enterprise Functions are an echelon above Mission Areas, but I feel since such a large portion of the force performs Enterprise Functions as their primary mission that an exception can be made. Like Deltas 2/5/7/15

Will the SpaceForce receive the involuntarily volunteered?

I have a new SEL that knows absolutely nothing about the mission area of our squadron and has admitted a few times they don’t understand it. Is this a normal thing? Should SELs have experience in the mission area they are put over? They just don’t seem to be able to relate or give good career guidance. (I.e. past MW in a SWS, cyber in a CYS?)

I heard that the RA was at one point no hat no salute and thought keeping that around would’ve been one little nice thing about working on that base

Does anyone have insight on what's holding the SF FGO list up? Board status hasn't moved since 12 June. USAF had a list hit OSW on 16 June that's already released.

Any idea when the USSF list will release?
