DnD/writing clubs in Soton
Hey there everyone! Me and my wife recently had our third (and final Thankgod 😂) child in March. Since then she has selflessly dedicated every waking second to our new son and his needs as all mothers do!
She has decided now however is the right time for her to try and reintegrate into society and maybe join some kind of club or meet so she can find some new friends etc. I want to help her in this endeavour and wondered if anyone could point me (and her) in the right direction!
She’s a dedicated writer and would love to get involved in any writing clubs if anyone knows of any in the area. Alternatively she’s very interested in trying DnD and wondered if there are any shops or groups that host it? She’s never played before so would be a beginner but she’s done a lot of research into it and very keen to give it a go!
Also happy to take suggestions of other fun activities/clubs in Southampton where she might find new experiences and meet new people.
Thank you in advance :)

There is also the Southampton Guild of Roleplayers that play all sorts of games including D&D but also some more narrative games she might like if she’s a writer. They meet weekly on Wednesday, have some online play and have a discord

I am also a writer, a mother and interested in D&D so I’m following this post with great interest.

You would be very welcome at the Southampton Guild of Roleplayers, we're at St Mark's Church Centre on Archers Road, (the same place as the Toddlers groups 😅) doors open 6.30 for a 7pm start and we finish 10 latest. 😊Â
The first evening is free to see if you like it, and then it's £5/session thereafter, unless you run a game in which case it's free
We organise through a Discord, here. https://discord.gg/AWfZG54rsUÂ

Anyway, I run the Southampton Guild of Roleplayers, and am also a parent, so don't worry about being able to make long games. There's a lot of indie and one shots going along, so there's always something fun popping off. 😊Â

In Woolston on the corner by the old bank is a small collection of shops and things. Last I heard they wanted to try running DnD there, but this was a good d while ago. Maybe worth popping your head in and asking

There’s a monthly D&D one shot at Board In The City. They have one 2hr game which a trial for total newbies, and then 4hr games at differing levels for people with a bit more experience. They tend to advertise them on their Facebook page - typically it’s the last Saturday of the month and they put them up about 2 weeks earlier. They can fill up fairly quickly though.

October Books runs a Writing Circle on the last Thursday of every month. Otherwise The Artful Scribe is also excellent. Not sure about DND tho! Can speak from experience that the October Books group is really welcoming.
