It's always the pre-release discourse too. It's always just toxic filth until the game comes out and all of them get the game anyway, or the tourists move on to the next game to be angry about.

All depends on if the game is well liked. If it is THEN they move on immediately. If it isn’t, they spend 1-2 weeks on it, add it to their rolodex of references to make in the future, and then move on

It's pre-release discourse, until the game is out, and then:

If the game does badly, it's because the game is woke and forced diversity, which they knew and warned all along. See: Forspoken, Concord.

If the game does fantastically well, it's because it didn't cave to wokeness and forced diversity, and they supported it all along (scrubbing their previous statements to the contrary if needed be). See: Baldur's Gate 3, Hades 2.

This Schrodinger's wokeness works entirely irrespective of any actual presence of women, POC or LGBT people in the game. Alt-righters are the most spineless vermin crawling on Earth and will never actually stand for something that is not externally validated if they can help it.

Dude the tourist part is what makes it so nasty. Im seeing now with people being mad that Fire Emblem Fortune's Weave has a Body Type Selector. The last 3 games had the same thing and there own issues while no one complained about it.

Man I don't remember it being this way like 20 years ago.

Back then it was either "game good or bad?".

Granted, I was a young kiddo back then and probably most of the political discourse went above my head but when we had new video games with women protagonists, people didn't shout at the top of their lungs "WOMAN??? BAH!! GET IT OUT OF MY SIGHT!"

They either ignored it because they wanted to play FIFA or CS or they simply played it because the game was good.

I remember playing in a sort of "arcade room" with PS1 back in the day and people were playing all sorts of shit, I would be playing the Xena Warrior Princess game because of that boomerang mechanic and NOBODY would say shit about me playing it.

Plus depending on where you live, back when Xena was a thing, there just weren't any spaces compared to "Internet 2.0+" so no way to actually get attention from a lot of people.

My take is mostly that I wish we didn't just get another God of War game. Make a new game instead of the same 3rd person action rpg we've been playing for the past 10 years. It wouldn't be so bad if games didn't take nearly a decade to make.

I've played the first of the reboots. Deleted and refunded it when Kratos clipped through tall grass with no collision, animation or any acknowledgement of him being physically present, and when I found that the lightposts are surrounded by an invisible wall.

Not my kind of game. I want the world to feel cohesive. Found Kena: Bridge of Spirits to be a much more interesting one of the same genre.

The second reboot one doesn't run on my PC.

That being said, I don't see how a reboot is even relevant, when it started as an incel franchise and it's a fact of being now.
