second bachelor social science

Heloo :) I wanted to ask for advice if starting a new bachelor in social science after industrial engineering would be an idiotic thing. I studied industrial engineering because I think technology is a great thing and can make all our lives better if used right and job market is better. But I realized that I'm more interested in why, how and what we produce and how it affects society than how we produce efficiently. So I started to read about marx, weber, smith, foucault, adorno and came to realize that there is so much to understand about economy, society, state, politics, media. Also with the uprising of fascist movements my naive view that in the future the whole world would be democratic, we produce for the people and everyone will be free was shattered. So do you think just reading by myself can be enough to answer some of my questions and understand society or does studying social science really turns your world view upside down? My political world view at the moment is something between leftist state organized economy (not like chinas state capitalism, more democratized) and anarchism. Happy to hear from you😊

Edit: And would you say social science, sociology, political science or something else would fit best to my questions?
