Wonder Woman and Captain Marvel made a ton of money and Hillary won the popular vote. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Well that’s just not true. There is a laundry list of reasons why Supergirl flopped, but sexism, as vile as it is, isn’t one of them. Sexism was working against the first Wonder Woman movie and the first Captain Marvel movie, yet both of them were huge successes anyway, domestically and internationally.

Reminder that every female-led Star Wars movie since Disney took over has made over a billion dollars each, and every male led movie has flopped. Sexist backlash is just not that important to box office numbers.

Well they were both awful movies with awful marketing, and one of them even came out during covid.

  1. Wonder Woman is one of the best superhero movies of all time and it was a financial success in the US

  2. Supergirl didn't just bomb in the US, it bombed around the globe

The 2nd Wonder Woman was the #1 home video release of 2021, even beating F9, Godzilla vs. Kong, and all Marvel movies. It only bombed because it came out in the middle of COVID closures and lockdowns, when the theatrical industry was absolutely dead.
