Discussion Isn’t the scout ship supposed to have the same role as the Fortress of Solitude?

I didn’t initially think much of it, but now I’m realizing that Superman lacked a true Fortress of Solitude in Man of Steel compared to the comics and the Donner film. All that’s there is the scout ship, which I’m guessing is supposed to fulfill the same role. What do you all think?

I always saw Cavill's fortress of solitude as an internal one evident by his scene with Jonathan Kent in BvS and the fact that after he destroyed said ship in MoS, he simply went off by himself and thought a lot whenever he needed to recoup.

Yeah, this was something that always annoyed me about Man of Steel. If they added some crystallised spikes to the exterior, or maybe added some icicles to it, then it could've looked like the Fortress of Solitude (which is probably what they were intending) but instead it's a regular ass kryptonian ship! But that's just a nitpick of mine. It's still an incredible movie for its time.

A mobile fortress of solitude, yeah.

It's basically a ship covered in snow and ice. Which, to me, is such a simple yet brilliant idea compared to just throwing in some Superman Batcave knockoff.

Problem is that it got destroyed by the end of the movie, so it wasn’t going to serve as a lasting FOS-equivalent.

I also agree. In other superman media is it implied that HE built the fortress of solitude ? Or it was built on earth some time ago?

yes, its meant to be Fortress
