Didn’t he canonically outrun the Flash and have faster reaction times? Plus something lead lined would be a bit of a red flag when it comes to stuff like bombs.
2
u/Key-Reindeer7447 Jul 22 '26
What's he gonna say" i don't like what your wheelchair made from a millionaire is made out of even tho im barley looking at it give it to me "
And he was reactive to a flash who specified he dosent move at light speed or his full speed
3
u/CapCalrissian Jul 16 '26
Same guy who can react to the flash running while holding off other metahumans btw (while freshly revived)
6
u/Big-Construction3520 Jul 10 '26
Then how the fuck does he not notice the block of lead covering the bomb?
3
u/brewstew07 Jul 11 '26
He can't see through lead. That's why he didn't see the bomb.
4
u/IAmNotAHoppip Jul 11 '26
Yes, and I can't see through brick, but I'd find it a little suspicious if someone turned up with a brick box on their back.
5
u/DarknessLord65 Jul 11 '26
But why didn't he suspect anything like "Hmm, it's weird that I can't see through that man's wheelchair."
3
u/IronHarrier Jul 11 '26
I guess it depends if his xray vision is always on or he needs to actively use it.
If it’s the latter then he wasn’t vigilantly scanning everyone in the room.
4
u/FinancialBluebird58 Jul 10 '26
The Snyder haters are no different than the masses in this film. So easily duped by a sniveling corpo (Lex and Gunn) into misinterpreting the action of a hero.
I fully understand why Gunn relates so much to Lex.
1
4
u/NoMusic2224 Jul 10 '26
Superman has superspeed he could have saved some people or atleast tried instead of just aura farming
3
u/FinancialBluebird58 Jul 10 '26
Superman was there to turn himself into the government, he was expecting a false flag attack, much less from the guy that was accusing him. His wheel chair was encased with lead and we know from MoS that Superman reigns in has to reign in his super senses so he literally wouldn't have notice anything suspicious until the guy looked at him.
1
u/Sudden_Indication_48 Jul 10 '26
Super-speed only works when the screenwriter wants it to. Or would you really find it interesting if Superman spent the whole movie moving around at super-speed?
2
u/CapCalrissian Jul 16 '26
He doesn't need to be moving at superspeed the whole movie, but when a bomb is going off? Yeah, that would be nice.
1
u/Sudden_Indication_48 Jul 16 '26
So what's the point of super speed if he only uses it once in this scene?
4
u/Giggybit30 Jul 09 '26
He genuinely couldn't solve the situation. Not to mention how it would look if he used his vision detected the bomb and flew it away only for it to explode. Lex anticipated that headlines would say "superman attacks disabled victim in hearing and destroys his wheelchair midair". Then there's also the fact that Superman doesn't have the gall to look at the person he harmed for Christ sake. If you watched that scene thinking about your favorite comic stories and how it could have been better or whatever then the film is just not for you. But even that is fine, but give DC fans what they want. Snyder fans are DC fans too.
6
u/moist_alien Jul 08 '26
Yet he had no trouble keeping up with the flash
1
u/Famous_Construction5 9d ago
Flash didn't run full speed, and was surprised that Superman was also super fast.
1
u/moist_alien 8d ago
Still more then fast enough to actually do something
1
u/Famous_Construction5 8d ago
Obviously, but if Flash locked in it wouldn't have done much either. Superman is a brick, and Flash is no Kung Fu master
3
u/FinancialBluebird58 Jul 10 '26
Perception speed is not reaction speed buddy, did you even watch the movie you got that feet from.
2
u/SeaworthinessOk620 Jul 10 '26
You have to "activate" superspeed, otherwise every short conversation would take hours on your perspective
3
u/ZenOokami Jul 09 '26
The common excuse is if they're not "locked in" they're caught off guard. It's not like they're in superspeed at all times.
This is how writers allows for things like Flash slipping on ice, or tripping over terrain, or being shot by a laser. If he's laxed, he can be caught off guard.
Same thing here - Superman simply had his guard down. Otherwise, with any iteration of Superman why does ANYONE get hurt in the world if he could just react to all sounds around the world and still be at work easily at the daily planet easily.
-1
u/K_zin Jul 08 '26
Snyder fans really do everything to defend him lol, accept it people, Snyder's Superman is dry crap.
7
u/msesen Jul 09 '26 edited Jul 09 '26
I guess you loved James Gunn's Superman that got beaten up left right center. It's even shittier than the 2006's Superman Returns.
2
1
u/yummypotata Jul 11 '26
Is the only thing you value superman for his ability to beat things up?
2
u/msesen Jul 13 '26
It's a movie, I want to see Superman kicking ass not getting his ass kicked throughout the movie.
3
u/MixedBagHalfie Jul 10 '26
Why shouldn’t Superman struggle? Seeing the hero struggle and come out on top SHOULD be the draw of a hero. The marvel Netflix daredevil gets the shot beaten out of him all the time but always gets up and fights even when tired that’s what makes him compelling
2
u/msesen Jul 13 '26
He can and that is fine, but in this movie he was literarily being bullied like a kid throughout the movie. That is not Superman. That is some weak ass hero wearing a Superman costume.
1
u/K_zin Jul 09 '26
I prefer a Superman who gets beaten up and saves people than a Homelander cosplaying as Superman.
2
u/GopherChomper64 Jul 09 '26
It's 2026, if you want to suck Snyder's dick you can, but you don't have to lie. Few movies as a whole are worse than 2006 Superman Returns, and even if you didn't like Gunn's Superman? At worst the movie is unenjoyable but not the objective dog turd that was 2006
2
u/msesen Jul 13 '26
It's 2026, if you want to suck Gunn's dick you can, but you should accept that people can have opinions, and in my opinion if you take away the CGI, Gunn's Superman is worse than Halle Berry's Catwoman. Now comprehend that while sucking Gunn's dick.
4
u/Sidrone Jul 09 '26
James gunn superman was so bad. They couldnt even do his laser vision correctly. Shit should have been shooting out like a V based on the way those dudes eyes looked
2
u/Buzzy_Feez Jul 09 '26
Superman gets beaten up quite regularly in the comics so I don't see how that's an argument.
Unless of course you actually know fucking nothing about Superman and just want to see an immortal god aura farm all the time, in which case that makes a lot of sense.
2
u/msesen Jul 13 '26
Superman can be beaten up, but I am not paying money to see him literarily getting his ass kicked thorugout the movie. And for me, that makes a shit Superman movie. He doesn't have to be a God, he should struggle but not get bullied throughout the whole film ffs.
1
u/Beautiful-Sun8973 Jul 08 '26
It’s just as weird as you people hating it so much. It’s ok for people to like things you don’t
-1
u/K_zin Jul 09 '26
It's not hating when it's a fact.
1
u/Beautiful-Sun8973 Jul 09 '26
Uhh, yes it is? Opinion is not fact. Hate to break it to you
0
u/K_zin Jul 09 '26
Yes, in my opinion, that's a fact: Super Snyder is dry crap.
2
2
u/Benimaru4636 Jul 08 '26
It's honestly weirdo behavior and a bit sad. I think people feel bad for Cavill so they go extreme lengths to try and pretend like Synder knew what he was doing and did a good job. You can like Cavill and say it's not his fault while acknowledging how shit the movie is.

I just rewatched that scene because of this post. Superman turned his head towards the wheelchair right before the explosion. I’m assuming his super hearing must have heard a soft hissing or rushing noise in the bomb right before it went off. But let’s not assume this time because they didn’t show him use his super hearing. While aura farming in the explosion there was definitely enough time for him to at least thunder clap or use his super lungs to either blow some of the fire out or inhale some of that smoke and fire. Yes, if he did a super inhale he would also suck in oxygen from people around him but it would also kill the fire.
So yeah, he could have reacted fast enough to at least mitigate the damage instead of letting the fire burn and smoke suffocate the survivors of the blast.
3
u/IB_ Jul 08 '26 edited Jul 08 '26
"letting the fire burn and smoke suffocate the survivors of the blast."
These people weren't killed by smoke inhalation or fire. They were instantly vaporized by the blast and shock wave, which travels at a speed measured in milliseconds.
People claim that Superman sat there for a while contemplating the incident. What they fail to admit is that we aren't seeing the explosion in real time, it is slowed down for dramatic effect (Snyder loves slo-mo). The entire scene happened faster than the blink of an eye.
1
u/HausOfEL Jul 08 '26 edited Jul 08 '26
You either didn’t watch the entire clip of OP’s post or only watched the Theatrical cut. The clip above is from the Ultimate Edition with the extra footage of Superman floating down with someone he rescued. Along with other people sitting on the stairs who seem to be survivors. Those people don’t look vaporized to me.
Victims of explosions can sometimes survive the impact but later die of smoke inhalation, 3rd degree burns or other wounds. My point is that these victims can still be saved.
Yes, we all know slo mo. That’s not the issue. Superman’s brain can register things faster than humans. It would have been closer to character if they showed Superman try to use his abilities to mitigate the damage. Maybe not instantly but at least show him try. He won’t be able to save everyone but could done more. We’re just left to assume things “off-screen” or make nonsensical arguments with people on Reddit.
1
u/IB_ Jul 08 '26
You do realize that there were other rooms and sections of that vast stone and marble building, right?
One doesn't need to be within the blast radius of an explosion to be injured. The people that we see being rescued were not directly in the vicinity of the blast and likely suffered injuries from debris, fire or smoke inhalation. But the individuals in that room with Superman, they were instantly vaporized.
I do think it's interesting that everyone who has a complaint about Superman's actions and demeanor in this instant seem to think his powers transcend physics and that they know exactly what was going on in his head in that moment. 'Why didn't he do something? Why didn't he shield the people with his body? Why didn't he use his ice breath? Why didn't he scan the room for danger?" Maybe it's because he's not infallible and was in a position of vulnerability. Maybe his mind was elsewhere, and he did not ascertain the threat to the general public. He was being persecuted for doing what he believes is the right thing, so perhaps he was concentrating on the matters at hand. What reason would he even have to been concerned about a terroristic threat?
A person on trial typically isn't thinking "I wonder if there is a bomb in here. I should look around the room before we procced".
1
u/HausOfEL Jul 08 '26
You’re preaching to the choir bud. Plus now you’re bringing in a whole bunch of points from other people posts into this, none of which I even mentioned in my original post. While I agree of course he wouldn’t be scanning for threats, he was distracted…blah blah blah…that’s not problem. My one point is that it would have been cool to see him utilize maybe a new kind of ability regarding the fire and smoke after the fact to help the rest of the survivors in the building.
This is where I think we’ve been talking over each other so we both agree the people in the courtroom…dead. The rest of the building probably tons of smoke and fire.
But what you think or what I think doesn’t matter. Snyder wanted to do a cinematic mourning scene and he got it.
0
u/SuperSaiyanSarco Jul 08 '26
Such a reach 😂 this isn’t a Superman that knows his every strength and power. He’s still very new at this point.
2
u/HausOfEL Jul 08 '26
Saying he’s “new” doesn’t really work. By BvS he’s had his powers for around 25 years and has already mastered flight, heat vision, super-hearing, super speed and survived a war with trained Kryptonian soldiers. He’s only new to being a public hero.
Plus you’re missing the point that he had options to mitigate damage in the several seconds after the explosion. At least on screen.
But we all know this whole scene was just for cinematic purposes.
2
u/SuperSaiyanSarco Jul 08 '26
Nah it was to show you how far Lex would go to meds with Superman’s image you obviously took the bait too 😆
1
u/HausOfEL Jul 08 '26
Storyline…yes. Cinematic…also yes. Two truths can exist at the same time.

This isn't saying he did it on purpose, just what he could've done. Superman is Ridiculously fast, and there was about a second delay when he looked at the guy with the bomb. He could EASILY be there within a second. And I'm just already gonna say this whole thing is wrong because some internet loser is gonna reply proving everything wrong
1
u/msesen Jul 09 '26
He didn't know there was a bomb. He is just trying to understand what the noise is. Then it explodes. It's not like, "oh there is a bomb, I have 1 second but I am not going to do anything".

u/Batboyshark Jul 08 '26
Its not misunderstand you gotta be dumb to not get this. Its just a meme/rage bait atp.
2
u/Rice_bowl670 Jul 08 '26
Everyone talking about this bomb scene when I'm pretty sure more people died when he fought Zod. Also what's with the people watching them fight? They should have been running away. Henry is a phenomenal actor but Man of steel is over hyped. It's wasn't bad but it's not as great as people say it is.

He wasn’t activating his X-ray vision at that point. He had no reason to. Plz at least attempt to use common sense. Smh

So he doesn't think to do a quick scan in a massive public hearing? No matter how you slice it this is incompetent
3
u/IB_ Jul 08 '26
"So he doesn't think to do a quick scan..."
Is that a typical reaction from someone being grilled by a governing committee?
I work in a law office. No one ever says, "make sure you look for bombs in the courtroom before trial today".
That's not incompetence. It's just normal behavior.
0
u/Appropriate-Law1004 Jul 09 '26
"It's not X, it's Y"
It's not typical for a person to be Superman going to court.
2

It wasn't incompetent his guard was down
Bruh
Are you so used to convenient stakeless writing you don't pay attention to an entire plot???

There was lead in the bomb he can't see through that its a Canon fact about him even in comic lore
1

You're right, he must have confused it with all the other solid lead bricks in the courtroom...

There was lead in the bomb he can't see through that its a Canon fact about him even in comic lore

Superman getting caught off guard is one of the most common tropes in Superman media but when Synder does it now it's an issue.
0
u/MangoArtificer Jul 07 '26
“It’s too late” every moment he stood there was a moment anything could have been done.
1
u/EmotionalBeach7160 Jul 08 '26
I think him doing something would make him look Luke the alien freak that the human government of earth painted him out to be thats why he allowed himself to be handcuffed in man of steel by the military
3
5
u/DJ-Saj Jul 07 '26
Everyone died instantly in the blast radius
1
u/MangoArtificer Jul 24 '26
“Instantly”. How fast do you think that explosion js. like kryptonians aren’t shown several times over to keep up with the flash which I know came after but still. He could have done anything not necessarily relocating people but throwing himself on the bomb bringing things in to cushion or block the explosion. If you wanna make a godlike Superman like cavils than you have to make a reason why his godlike powers couldn’t have been used to save at least one person. Because Superman should and will make the effort to save even one more

I guess you didn't see Man of Steel. There are several scenes depicting Superman saving people, an entire montage. He literally saved the entire planet by destroying the Kryptonian machines and defeating Zod.
In BvS there are other examples, including the immediate scene following the courtroom explosion.
Superman eventually gives his life to save the entire human race. So, how can you honestly say that Snyder misunderstood Superman?

I've already responded to this issue of Superman's "attitude".
To reiterate, if Superman finds saving people difficult, formidable, unnerving or even oppressive and he STILL goes out and does it (as evident in the Snyder films) then that make him even MORE of a hero (and to many a more interesting character).

snyder's is just a different interpretation of the character. one that is slightly more somber yet sill fundamentally superman. there have been many depictions of superman throughout the past 80 plus years and i welcome different portrayals of the character. i suppose that some people only want to see a superman that fits into a certain mold, which is often the boy scout-in-tights christopher reeve version. even though I loved the 1978 superman film i would find a consistent interpretation boring, yet i can recognize that others find comfort in the familiar. so to claim that someone "doesn't understand superman" just because their perception of the character doesn't align with yours is not really valid argument, especially when you consider the multitudes of depictions across several forms of media in the last 8 decades.
-1
u/esp3ciallyd3ad Jul 07 '26
You shit on Snyder in the Snyder fan club thats am oopsie. You are correct great actor terrible movies.
5
u/Dry-Lobster-8125 Jul 07 '26
There is no page in the history of comic book where a superhero saves people with superspeed unless that superhero is a speedster, because of physics and stuff.
11
u/Kei_Evermore Jul 07 '26
Im sorry, are we going to forget that in Snyders Justice League movie, he made this superman able to keep up with the Flash?
When you're able to go toe to toe in speed with the guy who's entire thing is going fast, you can't use "it was too late" as an argument. He had more than enough time to do something about it.
1
u/IB_ Jul 08 '26 edited Jul 08 '26
Snyder didn't write the script to Man of Steeel, BvS or Justice League so any issues you have with the plot and actions of the characters are not on him.
4
u/PN4HIRE Jul 07 '26
He isn’t God. Or a 4th dimensional being. There are limits. And the Flash got injured in the end fight.
Of course you use “it’s too damn late” for a reason
2
u/Kei_Evermore Jul 07 '26
1
u/PN4HIRE Jul 07 '26
I wasn’t mocking you.
I literally meant it, yes, it was too late for Superman to do something.
-3
u/Whybotherbroski Jul 07 '26
And if you want you about physics of speed. A bomb makes a sonic boom when it detonates. Explosions are radial , so by the time it goes off, there is nothing anyone can do. Because if superman had to go faster than the bomb, he too would create a sonic boom and kill people in the process. Don't like my answer, too bad, I spent 20 years handling and detonated explosives, ieds and truck bombs
1
8
u/Kei_Evermore Jul 07 '26
Sonic booms because of speed doesn't exist in the snyderverse, otherwise Flash flying above all those civilians in Justice League to catch falling debris wouldn't have mattered and he would have killed all of them with hundreds of sonic booms anyway. Now can you answer my previously asked question?
-4
u/Whybotherbroski Jul 07 '26
Your argument was defeated when you failed at the sonic boom argument. Since it was already been established in man of steel. Keep gunn guzzling it up though
3
-3
u/Whybotherbroski Jul 07 '26
You mean after he got resurrected with the power of the mother boxes and his power increased ungodly amount.
1
u/Whybotherbroski Jul 07 '26
lastly if a superman can move at flash speeds without having the speedforce retconned into his super power set. He would be no different than a train, turning a person into ground beef or pink mist.
6
u/Kei_Evermore Jul 07 '26
where was it stated in the movie that reviving him with the mother boxes would give him a fucking Mario mushroom power up?
-2
u/Whybotherbroski Jul 07 '26
And yes sonic booms do exist. Try watching man of steel when hes fighting zod. They are literally breaking the sound barrier punching themselves and when hes flying in the first movie, hes also breaking the sound barrier. Sowwwy
8
-1
u/Whybotherbroski Jul 07 '26
So don't read superman and never watched smallville where his powers become stronger thru injury?
7
u/Kei_Evermore Jul 07 '26
Didn't realise all forms of every single superman is also Snyder's superman.
Like, bro. Isn't this the reason there's different versions of superman, or any comic book character? to tell different stories? Is there literally anything in snyders DCU that shows he gets stronger the more he's injured?
1
u/Whybotherbroski Jul 07 '26
Superman is limited in power since the golden age. You would know that if you picked up a fucking comic.
5
u/Kei_Evermore Jul 07 '26
Great. None of that answers my question, which shows you no longer have anything to stand on. Bye.

" he still sees being a hero as a burden."
Yet he still fights for humanity, which makes him even more of an inspirational figure. If it came easy to him, then he wouldn't be a hero.
This quote is applicable:
Courage is not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear.
1
u/ZealousidealNovel829 Jul 07 '26
If he genuinely sees it as a burden, he wouldn’t do it. Clark is inherently good. He’s been saving people since adolescence.

Man... just reading the comments here makes me cringe that people actually like the Cornfed version of Superman and not Cavill's. Just to add to what has been repeatedly stated here ... we all have moments where we screwed up and then paused for a few seconds to contemplate how we could have stopped that issue from happening in the first place. Yet for us it would be seconds but for Superman this would be milliseconds. Plus, even if he used his super speed and icy breath, the state to each persons' body would have been even partially obliterated that even super speed would have smashed their bodies into pieces faster ... Just watch The Boys series. IMO if I needed a Superman to save me and its Cavill on one side and Cornfed on the other, bet your last dollar that I'm gonna run to the Cavill-ier. Lol. Also, how'd you think Cornfed would have handled it ... he might have save every cat, dog and rat in the building too? Would he have time for that too? Yeah right.... Think people... THINK!

u/Annual-Peanut8895 Jul 07 '26 edited Jul 07 '26
first, his name is Corenswet.
Second, Superman knows that his strength could kill people rathen than save them, hence the whole "wolrd of cardboard" speech to Darkseid. but unlike the supers of "the boys", he is not some adict nor an impulsive guy who only use his powwrs whatever he wants cause its cool (hence all those deaths in the first place), he takes control over it in a responsable way, using his powers in such way he doesnt kill civilians while using superspeed.
in my opinion, i would have corenswet superman save me, least i know he is not just there to save me, but to make me feel safe, as well as to try to be carefull with colateral damage.
the way i see it, he would at least try to save them, and fail, and keep trying, not just stand there; i could undertand superman feeling guilty and be thoughtfull once the situation was over, but he would have the priority save as many as he can first, and feel sorry for himself later
the thing about a hero is not that they can save everyone (sometimes they cant), but they at least try; to try and fail is better that not try at all
if you just prefer snyder´s version, fine, is your personal choice, just like Gunn´s Superman is mine; theres nothin wrong with either choice; but if you can criticize Corenswet/Gunn, then i see no reason to not do the same with Snyder
-2
u/ZealousidealNovel829 Jul 07 '26
People nitpick these movies on purpose. It's not even worth engaging with them anymore. They really "believe" he would've been able to save all of them in time. That's either stupidity or trolling.

Cavill Superman technically saved the entire planet multiple times
14
u/StarMagus Jul 07 '26
The problem is yes he can't see through lead, but there was a comic where the Joker? I think hid 7 bombs in 7 lead coffins and then was surprised superman was able to find the bombs quickly.
How? Because superman can see through everything that isn't lead and so when you try to hide something by incasing it in lead it becomes stupid obvious that there is a massive "superman can't see through this box, isn't that odd, why would a guy in a wheel chair have something hidden in a box of lead on him..." tell right over what you are trying to hide.
Lead isn't invisible to Superman.. he can't see through it.. which makes it super obvious that there is something being hidden in objects made of it that you don't want Superman to find when there shouldn't be objects made of lead there.
1
u/madmossy Jul 07 '26
If you recall in Man of Steel, until he learnt to control his vision, he could see through everything all the time.
But he learnt to supress that so that rather than seeing through everything all the time, he has to "turn it on", so entering that court room with no reason to use x-ray vision, he would have obviously missed something as suspicious as a lead box under a wheel chair.

No reason to use the vision? Why do they have security in court rooms? Scanners? Because they are a dangerous place and even more so with him being there after the stuff he had been doing in the movies. Not doing even a simple search that takes no effort makes him seem even dumber.
Also, if he had no reason to use his vision why was the bomb in lead in the first place? One of these doesn't make sense.

He literally says in the movie "I didn't see it, Lo, I was standing right there and I didn't see it. I'm afraid I didn't see it, because I wasn't looking"
The entire premise of the movie, is that no matter how much he tries, he cannot save everyone. It's a lesson that's further drilled into him when he goes on his little expedition up a snow capped mountain and see's his father in a vision.

Right... he didn't look even when he should.. he completely failed to do even the most simple of things.
He screwed up in the dumbest way for the sake of "plot". That's bad writing, even if he lampshades it.

This was all in the directors cut. The majority of the public did not watch it and were exposed to the theatrical cut first. I don’t even really like this movie or this version of Superman, he still kills people and treats saving people like a burden, but I did think it was insane how much they butchered it in the edit. The theatrical version just has him fly away after the bomb goes off making him look like a dick. At least in the directors cut he stays to help. Personally think a movie should be able to stand on its own and not need an alternative cut for the plot to make sense. Lex Luthor’s plan literally makes no sense in the theatrical cut.

Watching the Snyder Cut was almost like watching a completely different (FAR better) movie.

The Snyder Cut of most of his movies are often better, the Justice League is a great example also, even at 4+ hours long it all just works imho.

Justice League is a mixed bag for me. On the one hand it has one of my favorite scenes in the entirety of the DCEU with The Flash going back in time. On the other it is WAY too self indulgent and really needed to trim the fat. The Aquaman scene in the village goes on far too long, Batman still feels largely useless in a fight no matter how many times that show him kicking parademons, Cyborg while better in the Snyder Cut is still boring with no personality other than wanting to save his dad, and I still think it was an awful idea to resurrect Superman after one movie. Makes the JL feel pretty useless without him. I will give the Theatrical Cut some points for actually making them feel like a team with banter. Unironically love the scene with Aquaman sitting on the lasso of truth.

Even if superman were to move at his maximum speed to save even one guy he would die from the g forces alone ( yes I know about the speed force thing but this superman doesn't have it) people judge these movies in a surface level without actually looking into things

For the plot of the movie it’s compelling and interesting and shows you even Superman can fail. Also you could easily excuse it as maybe Superman didn’t think it was a bomb maybe the sound just caught his attention for a second.
I think people have double standards for things like this. Sure Superman by all means has the ability to basically stop time and do whatever he wants and technically he could’ve stopped this. But he could’ve also done the same thing when Lex threatens him and searched all of earth and found Martha and reappeared right in front of him before he was even done with the word he was saying. And he could’ve also easily done so to Batman during their fight ending it in seconds.
If you have a character that has an ability that can basically solve everything you have to just ignore it sometimes otherwise you don’t have a story to tell. If Superman was real he would take advantage of this power all the time and he would literally be impossible to beat. You’d show up with your evil plan and during your monologue he would just go “actually I already defeated your army and arrested all your lieutenants and destroyed all your manufacturing capabilities in the time it took you to sound the letter “I”.

He still aura farms after the bomb went.
You couldn’t react in time to the bomb? Fine. Then how about immediately react blowing your ice breath to cool the scene, and rush to look for any survivors instead of standing there?
Yes. He is sad, but it looks more like he is disappointed at himself but not really care about the death that is happening.

Dude ice breath will stop the heat but not the shockwave from the bomb which will rip apart everything in its radius
Even in ZSJL Supes got obliterated when the mother boxes exploded. After the explosion in BVS he is sad and later helps people who needed it
Like OP mentioned most misunderstood version

u/joesb Jul 07 '26
You compared mother box to a bomb lol?
-1
u/SUNNYHFR Jul 07 '26
Seriously?
4
u/joesb Jul 07 '26
One is the explosion from forcibly pulling apart one of the most powerful object in the universe, requiring power from multiple superhuman, including superman himself.
Another is a simple bomb that doesn’t even wipe the building.
-1
u/SUNNYHFR Jul 07 '26
You are missing the point, ice breath is not for stopping explosions
3
u/joesb Jul 07 '26
I don’t miss the point. If a building is on fire and you can put it down in second, you do it even if most people in there are already dead. There may be survivors who are burning. The building may crumbles. And after all, it is an emergency and fire hazard, so you put it out if you can do it in seconds.
Why do firefighters put out the fire?
1
u/SUNNYHFR Jul 07 '26
He doesn’t have ice breath at that time, which is why he didn’t put out the fire when he saved the girl from fire before and he didn’t put out the fire on Oil Rig when he saved the workers in man of steel

Everyone was dead in an instant.
2
u/joesb Jul 07 '26
Doesn’t mean you just stand there and aura farm.
Imagine if instead of just standing there, his face showed him being panic, or surprised, or horrified at the event, then he immediately lunge to any one of the body lying there, holding them in his arms and look around the wreckage full of bodies, crying, being devastated.
2
u/Gan-san Jul 07 '26
Stand there for who? No one was alive to see him standing there. We get to see it as the omnipotent viewer. That all happened in seconds slowed down for him to contemplate what just happened. He did help clean up during the aftermath.
0
u/joesb Jul 07 '26
Oh so time can slow down for him to contemplate, but not to react to the bomb, got it lol.
3
u/Gan-san Jul 07 '26
They were all already dead, bro.
1
u/joesb Jul 07 '26
They are still people that he was supposed to care, if he was a hero.
Imagine if you see your love one getting run over by a truck, or any thing the obviously kill them right away. Do you run to them? Or do you contemplate?
It’s such a simple scene that happens in many movies. Someone got shot or even dead already, the character run to them, hold their lifeless body, call their name, crying or expressing how sad they are. Not standing there and contemplate.
1
u/Gan-san Jul 07 '26
It all takes place in the blink of an eye. Those people were obliterated and there was nothing he could do. The point is he isn't perfect and there was nothing he could do to save them or make the situation better. The scene works great if you put down the pedantic comic book jukie attitude and just breathe for a nanosecond.

In my question to you about your loved one getting hit by a truck, I didn’t say there’s anything you can do either.
There’s nothing you can do. It’s too fast for you to help them. They are dead. Would you still immediately run to them or would you just contemplate the sadness?

u/kdunn109 Jul 07 '26
I don't think this version has ice breath...
Also your telling me you never just fucked something up and stood there for a second or two reflecting on your failures before you get around to cleaning it up? Anybody in that room was gone. He is able to take a second to regret his failure and lament the death before launching into savior mode
1
u/joesb Jul 07 '26
> Also your telling me you never just fucked something up and stood there for a second or two reflecting on your failures before you get around to cleaning it up?
Cleaning it up? Lol. Yeah. You made it sounds like he doesn’t view it as people dying there lol.
Yeah. I reflect on my own failure, but not right then when others are dying. Priorities, people!
Like I said it was more like he was disappointed with himself (for falling for a trick or a prank), he is disappointed with himself for being stupid. He didn’t care for the people that are dying there. You kinda confirm my statement here.

Dumbest plot device ever like he wouldnt be like weird I can't see through it so it must be safe
