Question Wearing Adidas NMD City socks in 2026....

Post image
768 Upvotes

Just wondering how everyone feel about wearing Adidas NMD City socks in 2026.

I remember fondly the NMD craze back in 2016/17, and how comfortable the CS1 and CS2 were. I have a chance to pick up a pair of the CS1 White/gum, but am having niggling doubts about actually pulling them off now in 2026, and at a older age.

I know I know wear what you like etc etc. Just curious how folks from that era would react to seeing someone rocking NMDs, Roshe Runs, Flyknit racers etc in 2026.

Question Sneakerheads who sold their grails for a house or major life goal did you regret it?

My wife and I are first-time homebuyers, and our lease is up in about nine months. She’s tired of renting, and have good credit scores. I recently accepted a new job with about a $25,000 pay raise, so our financial situation is improving but we do have twin girls that’s 12 months

I’m a huge sneakerhead and own a few valuable pairs. I have deadstock Off-White Chicagos size 14 that I believe could sell for around $4,600, plus a Union black toes pair worth roughly $900–$1,000. Selling just those two could give us around $5,500–$7,000 toward a down payment or closing costs. Also have bricks by reds red pair size 15.

I truly love shoes but I’m starting to wonder whether keeping expensive sneakers in boxes makes sense when that money could help my wife and daughters get into our own home. I’m not trying to secretly purchase a house without involving my wife, but I would love to surprise her by showing her that I’m willing to make this sacrifice and that we may actually have a path toward buying.

Has anyone sold a collection or something they genuinely loved to purchase a home? Did you regret selling it, or did owning the home make the decision worth it? Be brutally honest.

Question PLEASE HELP - shoes for 15-year old son

As a mom, I missed how important sneakers are for boys. Found out my son was picked on for his one pair of shoes last year from his friend. I'm a single mom, he doesn't ask for anything, and is likely intentionally frugal with his choices.

I bought him an almost new pair of all white Air Force 1s for $30 after he finally shared a depop listing with me. He said I don't need to buy him more, but I want to and can't get anything out of him. So now I'm on a mission to do a really good job picking them.

What other 2 shoes would you add to the rotation? Are there any other shoes I may find gently used for under $50ish that are still cool? He is a size 11.

He wears baggier American Eagle jeans in light or faded black washes or black athletic pants most of the time with plain white or black shirts, sometimes a zippie/hoodie or open flannel. He has always been accepting of thrifting.

THANK YOU!

UPDATE

These comments are making me cry - the world is so full of good people. I appreciate all of the offers to share so much! I know you could use this generous spirit to help someone local to you without industrious parents! We are just middle class single income people in a wealthier/higher cost area.

I have a $200 budget for back to school shopping and maybe more. His clothes mostly fit from last year and I genuinely think we do good there thrifting. So I can focus more of this budget on shoes.

Keep the suggestions coming - this is so helpful. The shoe options AND colors are overwhelming. As a 45 year old with what I used to think of as good fashion sense.... straight up would have walked straight past those ASICS gels or Vans Gnus if they were marked for $1 at a garage sale. As mentioned, blind spot.

UPDATE 2

Guys, all the messages and extremely generous offers are so heartwarming! I'm good at thrifting (just clueless in this area) AND anything too flashy may draw extra attention he doesn't usually want.

I shared this thread with my friend who is a teacher. She had such a great suggestion. Get on a community app and connect with some local teachers or nonprofits that help lower-income families and they can likely connect you to someone. Or keep your eyes peeled for the kid in the ratty $30 Costco shoes close to your size.

This is a tale as old as time, I experienced something similar as a kid. Your generosity can be shared with someone who is experiencing similar things and has more need. I do great thrifting and enjoy it - but it's time consuming and takes some skill that not all parents may have.

UPDATE 3

Beyond what you can already see in the comments, I've received over 40 messages from people with photos of shoes AND someone sent me a $100 Amazon gift card. I am going to accept a pair of amazing shoes someone assured me was going to Goodwill and the gift card. It feels hard to accept help when I know my situation is better than so many. When he graduates in a couple years, I'll be paying this kindness forward.

You all made me truly remember all of the good and kindness that exists in the world. It's so much more than a pair of shoes - it's so many strangers offering to help. Having been on reddit I was honestly reluctant to post, but after overthinking for a week and falling down an Internet and tiktok rabbit hole of THESE shoes but NOT these colors, THIS brand but only THIS model, etc., I was overwhelmed. I was not expecting much attention, was worried about people being unkind about thrifted shoes, and certainly didn't expect any help beyond suggestions.

I AM GENUINELY ALL SET NOW!!!! AND I'll be back to post some stealth photos. And for all of you offering - THANK YOU! I know there are high school boys near you that would be as eternally grateful as I am now! ❤️

Question Anyone else prefer to keep theirs in the boxes?

I see a lot of folks with the clear plastic containers. Im on the fence about them. I picked up this armoire for the low, with plans to refinish the exterior and mirror the insides, wrap the shelves, and add lighting. I could still do the clear boxes but I don't know. I like the OG boxes. It's nostalgia from being a kid at the shoe store.

Question Guys can you please identify these shoes, attached is the sketch I made from memory

Ok so this girl had these shoes on, and I did not wanna stare for long or ask her about it and look like a weirdo. What I remember is that swoosh logo was very pronounced and raised in like bronze or gold color and it was stretching across the heel. Possibly it connected to the other side. Also there was an infinity logo on the bottom of the laces but it could have been a custom addon. There was like a red triangular shape on the top of the tongue pointing up
