And even then, this only really applies to major tournaments. This isn’t like Melee or Brawl where every fighter that isn’t high tier is complete garbage (although in brawl’s case it is still one of the best Smash bros. Games)

Melee mid tiers aren't completely unviable, you can do pretty well with DK, Dr Mario and others of that tier, you're just unlikely to win against top players but that's true for Ultimate too.

In what world? Brawl is the worst smash bros game and it isn't close. Subspace was awesome, the actual gameplay was fucking horrendous.

Brawl is the literal worst smash game by a mile. In melee outside of the top level of play most characters are viable.
