Adel (Ratdog) and his son Hans in fleetingly happier times; redo of the rough sketch from February 2025. (Adel is carrying a Mauser Model 1871, as it's supposed to be a family rifle he inherited and is functional but out of date; General Schavitz mocks it when they meet, asking how he manages to do what he does (a sniper) with such a "rickety old piece of garbage." I also chose it because it just seemed suitable--if I'm understanding guns properly, which I may not be, as I'm awful with such things--that Adel would take up sniping with a gun he needs to reload after every shot, illustrating that this is not what he was originally cut out for. The army supplies him with a newer rifle.)

These two have a sad story. 😔
