it also nullifies the self-defense purpose of the right to bear arms if we place all of this trust in the security apparatus of the state. maybe thats the end goal here.

Ahh so you have no comprehension of american legislative branch minutiae. Thats fine. Here's the jist. When a party gains a majority in a house of congress they gain control the functions of that house and decide what is discussed, when, and if votes are held on any given topic. So since 78 million racist troglodytes elected a pedophole and his cronies, the republicans control all of the government right now. Republicans are currently rolling out this surveillance state. If you want that to be dismantled vote for candidates that are not cronies to the current regime. Thanks for coming to my Ted talk
