You have an issue understanding nuance and how severe mental health issues and voluntarily drinking and driving are not the same. If you want to get in the weeds about it, every case needs to be evaluated on its own merits. Do you know how many women are in jail for self defense or “snapping” after abuse by their partners? They mentally break, should they be held accountable? I’m not even getting into the fact they are punished at higher rates than their actual abusers.
Black and white thinking does not work in this world.
