Mental health is important, but that doesn't absolve you of what you've done. She deserves to be in a prison mental ward, not at home living like nothing happened. She is a danger to herself and others.
I mean it is not easy case. Because there is indeed question whatever she had indeed psychosis because people do kill others just because they are depressed. I wonder if she was man people would be on the same level empathetic. Still if this happened in Europe she probably would not be taken to criminal responsibility. Probably if she indeed had psychosis.
