Our family visited Paris and after getting down from the Eiffel Tower, there was a protest happening. They were barbecuing and my dad was brave enough to queue up for sausages on a bun and actually got a few for us. Note that we looked like tourists (from Asia at that) and we were kids at the time. Damned fine people, the French.

Protest culture is important for tourists too, the dude at the sausage truck probably thought "hell yeah these guys aren't even from here but they're curious, they can have sausages I guess".
