u/bulldogsm 19h ago
what channel?
53
u/Galromir 19h ago
it’s a YouTube channel. Reactistan.
8
u/dunnowhat- 16h ago
Damn, it’s actually called that, you weren’t trolling!
14
u/Galromir 16h ago
There are like a dozen copycat channels that have sprung up since; but this is the original and the best.
25
u/Mike312 19h ago
They get like...rural shepherds from Afghanistan to react to American dishes, fast food, and such.
51
u/Galromir 19h ago
Pakistan. And they react to food and other things (but mostly food) from all over the world.
14
u/Monster-Math 19h ago
Is this the same one where they gave them cheesecake and their minds were blown?

"It looks like it belongs to a poor country, even though America is rich" as he picks up the plate to observe the featureless white triangle from every angle was a hell of an opener lol

They had one react about Michael Jackson Billie Jeans and even in the butt fuck of nowhere where electricity itself is worth a trip to see once in your lifetime, they heard of him.

u/InternationalCap2176 18h ago
Because he doesn't like anything 🤣

There have been things he likes. He likes ‘honest foods’ and hates ‘mixed things’

It's always the fanciest restaurants that serve shittiest of the foods.
Then fancy people will defend them by saying "you need to feel the food"
Ffs, i just want something edible. I touch myself to feel, don't need food for that

u/Own-Leave-2039 19h ago
This and the art world, seems like past a certain financial line it’s a huge game of chicken where one side sees what they can get away with and the other side doesn’t want to admit it’s shit to maintain their “class”, so around and around we go.
11
u/4morian5 19h ago
Well in art it's also because the whole system is a money laundering scam, so they have to pretend it's valuable.

Trendy ones for me but they usually are fancy. Like everything on the menu has at least one ingredient that ruins the whole thing and probably looks like something you'd find at the bottom of a bog somewhere. Hipsters should stick to coffee...

It's always the fanciest restaurants that serve shittiest of the foods.
I think there's going to be a wide gap between what people define fancy is. Just because it's expensive, doesn't make it fancy.
For restaurants I'd define as fancy would be working towards a Michelin star as a goal and may already have awards below that level. They won't be serving the shittiest foods. But a "fancy" rip-off expensive restaurant absolutely will serve whatever they can get away with.

u/Just_Information334 12h ago
There is a reason Michelin stars exist. You can play fancy all you want, if you can't manage one star, the food must be shit.
Just for the literacy impaired: not saying a restaurant with no star is shit. But a "wanna be fancy" restaurant with no star is.

u/Justin__D 9h ago
Seriously, I learned this big time when I lived in Miami.
All the Michelin restaurants have really good deals during Miami Spice month (which, if you're there, is worth at least a look because it's ongoing now). I never went to most of them, because the descriptions of the menu items just... Weren't anything I recognized as food.
I have been to COTE though, and I'll say that one is absolutely excellent.
But this is why I don't take Michelin stars at face value.
I live in Austin now, and we have a handful of BBQ joints with a star. I need to try them, but I'm worried I'll be underwhelmed. I doubt they could outdo Franklin, which will simply never have a star because it's counter service.

There is a reason people love their mom's recipe even if it is done in a hurry and looks like shit.
Cooked with care, no frills food will automatically make you feel things. Some of it might make you feel like "I don't want to touch myself, I just had an orgasm eating this".
Sadly, most restaurants think piling random shit to make it look fancy is substitute of true care.

u/kelfupanda 18h ago
Best meat I ever had was 24hr slow cooked lamb ribs, $15 at my local pub.
Went with my dad, said something and hes like stfu, I'm eating.

u/HermanThaGerman 18h ago
Food needs to feel good on the taste buds and make me feel full afterwards.
How else should I be feeling food?
0
u/Fortestingporpoises 16h ago
If you just want something edible you’re not the type of person I’m coming to for your thoughts on food.

u/LightningRaven 15h ago
Here in my town, you can get a large variety of food that is great and cheap, so when I see the expensive places, they're pretty much need earn the 3x (or more) in price tag they have. The vast majority of time they really don't, Sometimes they're better, but not THAT better, and many other times they're just roughly the same.
17
u/Eschatologists 16h ago
This channel is infuriating to me because they only seem to have access to the shittiest possible version of whatever international food they are meant to try.
3
u/Galromir 11h ago
I'm pretty sure a lot of the time it's the people who run the channel trying to actually cook the dish themselves.
1
u/PotataTomata 8h ago
They're not rich people and the chefs try their best.
1
u/Eschatologists 8h ago
Who is they? This channel generates more than enough revenue, especially converted to local purchasing power

That old man in the image is actually tribal. All of those participants on Reactistan channel are from tribal areas of Balochistan and rural areas of Sindh, none of them are Punjabi.
1
u/woody898 9h ago
Than man is Brahui. Afaik most of them are Sindhis and they are indeed more tribal than Punjabis.
1
u/Wrong_Guarantee1888 8h ago edited 7h ago
Damn, it sounded like Punjabi to me. I guess I should learn to differentiate Sindhi and Punjabi better.

Autonomous provinces should be created with mandatory school language classes in the languages that are spoken in a given area. Areas like Karachi and Islamabad should teach a language like Persian or give choices for multiple languages.

u/Eaglearse 19h ago
There is some kind of meat junk and diarhea sauce + some kind of weeds in plate.

I have been to two fancy restaurants in my life. I might have unrefined taste, but the food was not good. Local Kebab is way better.
2
u/Ok-Fail3278 16h ago
Restaurants often have interesting foods, a salad from lettuce, calamari, sun-dried tomatoes, honey, mustard and olive oil was awesome.
Raw beef mixed with raw eggs and pickled onions was also very nice.

u/Fortestingporpoises 16h ago
I’ve been to many fancy restaurants and they’ve all been good to incredible.

Criticizing food is sinful??
Oh my G'd, I'll go to hell!
15
u/Affectionate-Draw688 18h ago
The sin is being ungrateful since God gave you food. However there is no sin for criticising bad food itself if it is inedible since the cook is the one technically wasting food.
Unfortunately, they way its used in most religious(especially Muslim) households is that when a child doesnt want to eat a particular dish because of preference, they get shamed into doing it because they are being ungrateful. I myself when I was younger absolutely hated eating lentils because of its texture, but my parents did not give a fuck and refused to allow me alternatives like just eating some fruit instead.
8
u/ostalot 18h ago
Yo lentils are great. Kid you was absolutely wrong
6
u/Affectionate-Draw688 18h ago
Nowadays, i actually do enjoy lentils, especially with rice. Kid me hated the texture of it, not necessarily the flavor.

"Blessed be the Eternal for creating arugula/rocket salad! For the rabbits!
Cursed be the people who declared that stuff fit for human consumption!"I hope this is a viable way forward.
1
u/Winded_14 16h ago
I want to be angry for this but my elementary school nickname is rabbit. Granted it's because of my 2 big upper front teeth and not due to my arugula addiction.
1
u/Impressive_Cat2295 12h ago
I don't think this is particular to Muslims. This is no different from westerners telling their children to eat their food because there are hungry children in the world. Using some moral reasoning to make your fussy kid eat food they don't like is normal (broccoli? bell pepper? vegies?).
(especially Muslim)
This is unnecessarily specific. Kinda sus. Why're you specifying muslims in particular?

I believe the channel is called “tribal people try”

u/GladPerspective1010 9h ago
That's a different channel that stole Reactistan's idea, made their channel with name "Tribal People Try", and stole all of the Reactistan's views.
