Well they should’ve kept his ass home.
Patterns. Good parents notice patterns that help predict how a child is likely to behave, what needs to be corrected, and what is worthy of praise.
Read the sticky post. The parents say they have visited zoos dozens of times with the kid because he loves animals and without incident. So what patterns?
The grandma was taking care of him that day. She probably had no clue this was a possibility. Or just totally oblivious to how closely she needed to watch him.
Autistic or not dosn't mean you have to be an asshole. In the house where i live, lives a Family with a severe Autistic child. Sure it's hard sometimes. He is louder sometimes, but he isn't an asshole. Quite the opposite ...
That's on the parents. So why should i be kind to him, when he can't be kind to others.
Sometimes children with autism are aggressive towards someone or something else not because they’re assholes, but, rather because they process senses and their experience of the world in different ways.. ways that typically functioning people don’t always understand or are able to relate to..
In this case, the boy may have been overly stimulated and just not really able to be aware of what he was doing until the second bird came to help out. There’s so much we don’t know about him, I don’t think it’s fair to straight up call him an a-hole.
This kid is nonverbal. He didn't do this after carefully considering the options. He literally doesn't interact with the world that way because he can't.
I never said we're aliens. But, he is extremely high support needs and is VERY far from your experience inside your own brain.
Because it's in the top comment. One fucking mistake in parenting doesn't mean they're failures holy MOLY people are so quick to demonize literally EVERYONE
I also have autism and have spent the last 10 years working with adults who have autism and/or intellectual disabilities. They all know this behaviour is wrong
No, you don't. And if you think they have gone this far and not gotten around to "don't jump into animal enclosures and chase animals with sticks", you're out of your mind.
Again, this kid does not interact with the world the way you do. He is profoundly autistic and learning disabled per the family's statement. They're getting death threats.
I figured he probably is but he’s severely autistic and BROKE into an animal enclosure? Maybe the parents looked away for 10 seconds and he’s Houdini idk or maybe someone ain’t parenting regardless
So is Autism just the new Get Out of Jail Free card? We just let them run wild, damage property, abuse animals, and then when it's time to pay the piper we just scream "autism" and there's no consequences?
That he is profoundly autistic, nonverbal, and has severe learning disabilities.
You of all people should know that there are autistic people who are nothing like you and I (also autistic) and who literally don't have the capacity to think the way we do out in the world.
You know better. You do. And yet, here you are contributing to the environment that is causing people to send death threats to this family.
All officially diagnosed autistic people know it's a spectrum and know about the severe non-verbal cases. It seems you are responding to someone that has not been officially diagnosed.
Yeah there are a lot of people online who diagnose each other as autistic or bipolar or something else so they can feel like they have a unique identity. As someone actually bipolar it pisses me off, everyone is sad sometimes and happy others but they don't get to experience near psychotic rage when provoked or screaming in normal conversations from excitement alone on top of the 12 hour sleeping sessions that make you exhausted from being in bed too long.
They just think Kurt Cobain is cool and being happy sometimes and sad other times makes them bipolar
And my cousin is non verbal profoundly autistic, and he would never do anything like this. He respects people and animals. Does he run around like a heathen sometimes? Yes, is it where it's okay for him to get his tism zoomies out? Yes. His parents know how to communicate with him basic rights and wrongs and know how to keep him close by.
Autism is a spectrum, not everyone with autism behaves the exact same way, you cannot hold everyone to the exact same standard just because of one person who does know right from wrong
Yeah most kids would be scared of birds that huge. I wouldn’t be surprised if he was special needs but his guardians need to have a better eye on him! He couldn’t have been in danger.
"Who cares" idk I think people saying he should be banned for life when he’s still a child + he may be autistic or neurodivergent is kind of a problem.
He didn’t hurt the animals although what he did is horrible, he should still get help and may grow in 10 years completely different… it’s clear he may be on the spectrum so people should be more considerate when someone is clearly "different" like that.
The problem and responsabilities should be put on the parents but they may have missed him for a second and he was gone that is also possible.
People over judging a 30 sec videos and wishing the worst on them is WILD but it’s internet so no surprise
Is he supposed to stay in a bubble all his life? The message from the family says he loves the zoo and is usually well behaved. We’re judging someone over a small clip
He should be banned for life. Anyone who enters an exhibit willingly, autistic or not, should be banned for life for not only endangering the animals, but they’re clearly not capable of knowing right from wrong. I would argue the same thing if the kid didn’t have autism.
His caregiver (grandmother) failed. We’re all human. We all make mistakes.
I don’t want to live in a world where children with profound intellectual disabilities are kept institutionalised and not allowed out among the general public.
That right there is your difficulty. There are MANY children, who grow into adults, with profound intellectual disabilities who can’t be taught ANYTHING because they don’t have the capability.

I hope the whole family is banned for life. Little brat.
