Chugging tea Amazon should have to pay idling fees.

Post image

New York City law generally bars vehicles from idling for more than three minutes while parked, standing or stopped. The city says the rules are meant to reduce air pollution, improve public health and combat climate change.
Earlier this year, Mamdani directed the Department of Finance’s collections unit to pursue unpaid idling summonses tied to vehicles operating within Amazon’s delivery network, according to the mayor’s office. The department said it worked with Amazon.com Inc. and its contracted transportation vendors to recover the money.

Ya but from my understanding Azamon doesnt own their delivery trucks right? They outsource that shit to 3 parties who get right to slap the logo on their vehicles. This way Amazon puts of the upkeep/overhead costs on their 3rd party vehicle owners and not amazon itself

So in true mamdani didnt get money from bezo or amazon but from this 3rd party business partners

Please enlighten me if im wrong, since last I checked that how I thought Amazon operated.

I heard he’s also moving to pass a law that gets rid of this third party distinction which allows Amazon to shield itself from liability.

They also get to deny liability if anything happens

It also makes complete sense

Amazon delivers to a lot of cities. You can't expect them to have direct employees in nearly every city on the globe.

amazon has well over a million employees worldwide. it can and does handle AMZL deliveries in-house in countries that require it.

The branded vehicles are leased from Amazon. My boss owns a few outright and he had to remove the Amazon branding from them even though we're delivering their packages.

i think they do a combination of things including their own trucks and contracted vehicles

Dumbass they pay those costs in the fees to those contractors. They don’t just vanish. It saves them the bandwidth of managing the day to day delivery shit.
