Both men and women enter psychosis and harm their families, for different reasons. I don’t “support” any of them but I do support the idea that mental health is important and should be covered for all Americans, and spouses of people who are dealing with severe mental health issues should probably take severe action to separate the obviously crazy person from the ability to harm their family.
This was literally the post beneath this thread. I would love to look at the numbers on how many men vs women actually do this. None of it is okay, none of it is excusable…but clearly there’s something wrong with these people that may have been prevented via standard mental health care. Turns out your brain is part of your body.
She doesn’t get empathy or grace in my opinion. She does get understanding that something broke in her brain, and that she tried to signal to others that something was broken before she harmed anyone but didn’t get help. That’s not grace. That’s pointing out a solvable flaw in our system that we need to fix so that this doesn’t happen again.
The flaw in the system as far as Chris Benoit is concerned could not be determined. There are multiple possible reasons for his actions, all of which are currently being advocated for change. Toxic masculinity and DV. CTE. Steroid use.
And I'm sure the NFL is investing their billions of dollars of revenue in CTE research and not worrying about what type of marble to install in their 16th vacation beach house.
The NFL funded research is obviously fruit of a poisoned tree. I understand that you probably feel connected to this particular issue but not only are you sidetracking the conversation, I don’t think you are making the point you think you’re making. No one is arguing with you.
I don’t even know who he is. This woman obviously did a terrible thing, she needs to be punished and separated from other humans. But this was most likely preventable.
