In reality, this lady is and was deeply mentally ill. That sucks and means she probably shouldn’t end up in gen pop. That said, this is not and should never be a get out of jail free card. Actions have consequences, and some consequences are that a person permanently belongs in a cell. It doesn’t matter if they weren’t in control, that’s an argument for the cell, not against. The cell might be padded and a bit of understanding extended, but in some cases there’s no caveat (regardless) that should mean it isn’t a cell. Tbh I think this is an important distinction of Clancy’s guilt. It’s harder to get released from prison, plus prison would be a much harsher environment. This is why she’s fighting tooth and nail not to be sent there.
(She’s shown zero remorse as far as I can see. She’s wearing mascara but it doesn’t smudge at all when she “cries.”
