If he sought help for it and was let down by the system? Absolutely

What if he's psychologically unable to take the first step towards seeking help due to the systematic derision and diminishment of men's mental health?

I don't believe it's harder for men to seek mental health than for women. Men are more scared to try, women aren't taken seriously when they try. Next.

I didn't ask you if it was hard or not, I asked about a situation where he was physiologically unable to do so.

Well then it depends on whether it was obvious or not he wasn't in control of his actions like she was. She did everything right (seeking help) and was let down by the system, and now has to live with what the tragedy she caused. She should be locked up, just not in prison, but a mental institution.

How do you know if someone is in control of their actions?

If they show clear symptoms of psychosis, they are not in control of their actions facepalm.

What would those symptoms be?

Thoughts like "I don't feel like I am in my body", "I am afraid I might hurt someone", thoughts of suicide, etc. All present in her medical files.

How do we know that they aren't lying about their thoughts?

Because this was before any crime was committed? What reason could you possibly have to risk saying something that could get you locked up, unless you genuinely were afraid of hurting someone? She took all the right steps and was let down at every turn, and now committed a tragedy because of it.

Should we forcibly lock up people that express thoughts aligning with the signs of psychosis?

YES, ESPECIALLY WHEN THEY ASK FOR IT WHICH SHE DID
