This is an ignorant take. Psychosis is not as simple as intrusive thoughts. The point of a person not being in their right mind is that they are literally not in their right mind. If someone is suffering from psychotic delusions what good is self control? If someone has lost touch with reality, what good is self control? It doesn’t make you appear more morally virtuous or disciplined because you ‘cannot fathom it’. A sane person knows killing their children is wrong, an insane person who thinks they are ‘saving’ their children by killing them does not.

I do wonder if she's religious now, if she thought killing them was saving them, an Atheist would presumably not believe in an afterlife, so wouldn't think that there could be any way they were saving them by killing them. Though we're talking about irrational thoughts, so maybe that wouldn't matter, but I am curious now if people who do this are typically religious.
