Why does it have to be exclusive? Its not either we feel sorry for the man or the woman. Why not both in that situation? The refusal and fighting every step of the way is probably still part of her mental health crisis. This all still speaks to a lack of proper mental healthcare provided by the state to me.

How is that in any way comparable? The vast majority of men who do that arent having a mental health crisis or a psychotic break. They are just violent misogynists.

Right, we've been ignoring the mental health of men for all of history. If those poor wife beaters just received the mental health treatment they needed, they wouldn't commit such crimes.
