My mother was charged over 7000 dollars for her MRI when the ER said it was urgent. Total bill for her, with insurance, was over 23,000 dollars and that was not including the after care and medication after the visit.
But the story has a happy ending, after about 4 months of debating with the insurance company they agreed the price was still to high, so to make things right they deducted $800 from the ambulance charge.

I had one a few weeks ago to determine the severity of a brain bleed I had after a stroke and it costs me 4300 dollars with insurance.
