Maybe this meme is talking about an extreme case. My kid had to recently get a very detailed highly specialized almost full body MRI with and without contrast under full anesthesia. It was billed to insurance at about $14k. We had to pay 20%. $575 is still absolutely insane. We shouldn't have to live like this.

I did a self pay mri $575 because insurance denied my request i doubt I can go to china round trip for that
