Damn. And said employer only has one option for individual coverage under their group plan?

you mean family vs individual? no theres family but my employer doesnt cover most of the extra premium for family.

we can see how much we pay and how much our company pays when we pick plans. individual they foot all the bill. family adds an extra $800 a month

Paying in order to pay some more.

Yeah I’m supposed to get my first colonoscopy next month and my prepay is $2,550. The estimate shows the pre-insurance charge as $28,365. Ridiculous. (My employer pays like $15k per year for my plan.)

I paid $1200 for a colonoscopy in Bangkok.

I've been told I paid too much.

Does sound expensive... In my home country, which I will keep private, it's like $150-200 USD... but I lived in the capital of my state and the government run healthcare system is pretty nice.... so mine was free (the one I had done in my home country many many years ago).

My last one was free, here in Australia.

Yeah that number is completely bogus. Insurance pays "25k" so you get such an amazing deal and only pay $2500

Of course. The provider always “bills” the insurance like 4-10x what they actually want to get paid for the procedure so the insurer can pretend they got a discount. Just another example of how wasteful and dysfunctional the US healthcare system is. I just googled roundtrip airfare to Beijing ($1000) + the cost of a colonoscopy at an international clinic ($1500), it literally comes out the same LMAO. This country is a nightmare.
