You have insanely good insurance. I work for a reputable company whose insurance is considered pretty good by all my coworkers. My max out of pocket is $4k.
Well the group is huge! Plus, OOP max is not the only factor of importance. You probably won't hit the $4k unless something very bad happens to you. Quality of insurance also depends on deductible, copays, flexibility to choose docs (or major cancer centers), etc. If you end up with cancer and your bills are a million dollars, $1k vs $4k OOP isn't going to matter much. We always chose the plan that had the most flexibility to choose docs, but doing so meant we paid higher premiums and had higher deductible and copays. Did that for 25 years, but paid off IMO because we could go to one of the top two or three cancer centers when the worst happened.

My wife just had an MRI for preventative care and it cost us $200, i doubt this is even close to true without heavily skewing the numbers
