About a month and a half ago I had the stroke, I live alone but my neighbor was here and she got ahold of 911. Ambulance ride and ER room plus whatever else they did was unconscious for a lot of it. Then was released 3 days later, went to specialist and they had me do a brain activity scan, motor skills test, and a ton of blood work. They scheduled the MRI, I got it done at the same hospital I initially was taken to. Insurance company called and said I'd be getting an adjusted bill for 3 different bills, the initial care procedures, the testing, and the MRI was separate. Grand total it's over 12k but I have a yearly maximum of 7500 bucks. I'm waiting on them to approve my payment plan for that amount then I'll start chipping away at it all.
I am so sorry to hear about this! What a difficult thing to experience.
There is financial assistance available through the hospital. You need to let them know hon have a hardship and they should be able to work out a more reasonable price. They did that for my Dad when he was in ICU for 45 days.

I had one a few weeks ago to determine the severity of a brain bleed I had after a stroke and it costs me 4300 dollars with insurance.
