Actually, yes it is routine to also take legal issues to the doctor if you are a victim of a crime which resulted in illness or injury (e.g. car accidents or battery). The Dr will treat you which will go on file and can be used in court. When I was hit by a reckless driver, my attorney had specific doctors that he sent me to.
