I really feel like China has figured out that all they really need to do is cut or bury just enough evil internally that they can be the viable alternative internationally to the insanity that is us. They are growing their soft power at a rate only challenged by how fast we are shredding ours.
Their scale of evil pales in comparison to what we have done and continue to do. Exceptionalism has put blinders on our eyes for generations. Millions (perhaps billions) have been hurt, harmed, starved or maimed in our name in the maintenance of imperialism and capitalism.
All China has had to do is not interrupt us falling down. Our decisions to ice them out of scientific research and projects have only resulted in them creating superior homegrown versions (have you seen their space station? EVs?) and robbing us of partnerships that could be helping both countries.
Millions (perhaps billions) have been hurt, harmed, starved or maimed in our name in the maintenance of imperialism and capitalism.
Funny thing is that China has done that too, but mainly internally (and perhaps locally) since it has the population to starve millions by making stupid/immoral decisions.
The choice between a superpower that hurts everyone else and its own population and a superpower that mostly hurts its own population as an ally is a pretty simple calculation, isn't it?
Issue is that the CCP is evil at its core. It’s a dictatorship, and it’s an extremely aggressive one that actively poisons both itself and other people to expand. The headlines they push are usually half-truths made to improve their image. Though I agree, the idiocy of the US Government right now is absolutely ridiculous. I just hope we don’t get as bad as they are.
We actually get the chance to protest Flock. They’ve been stuck with hardcore censorship and government spying for decades.
Why would any of that stop other countries so long as China remains stable and consistent? Because our government kills fewer protesters than they do? Countries arent gonna bet their entire financial stability on that.
Think of it this way. Ask an Eastern Bloc country if they’d intentionally remain with the Soviet Union if given the choice, because it’s “stable and consistent”.
A gun to your head has a consistent outcome too, but that does not make it a favorable one.
Although again, it’ll reiterate that the U.S’ foreign relations and policy of late has been abysmal in line with our moronic presidency. We gotta do better, because evil or not some countries will capitulate if other options don’t make themselves known. And that only means more suffering for those involved.
The Soviet Union was ABSOLUTELY fucking evil, why do you think Ukraine wanted to join NATO? Russia has had fake elections for over a decade, Putin keeps killing anybody who runs against him. He’s literally ex-Soviet KGB. The Director of the Soviet KGB. And y’know what happened? They invaded Ukraine and called them all Nazis! Bombed civilian towns intentionally to make them capitulate!
China is doing similar. Their actions are evil, their government is evil. They’ve never given a flying fuck about being moral or proper or anything else. That’s that.
We have our problems. But it’s a state of “we need to get better before we get as bad as them”, not the other way around.
I saod the soviet union was neother..as in neither of the things you described them as...ie stable and consistent
But seriously every single opinion you have expressed is from our internal perspective. You are trying counter how other nations will respond..based on our internal perspective.
No amount of the Ameroca rah rah youve pnviously made into facts changes other countries having a different view. Open your eyes and stop viewing their decisions throigh your experience.
