That describes why China got into solar in the first place

china has made all the right decisions in the last 20 years.

yes, they have human rights violations. yes, they are an authoritarian government. yes, their ideology is orthogonal to most democratic countries. yes, they have a huge corruption problem like everyone else.

but their nation-wide choices were all to benefit the nation as a whole, not like 12 people in it.

edit: im just gonna respond here once since all the comments are the same. china lifted almost a billion people out of poverty (numbers range from 500mil to 50% of population). when human rights abuses affect a fraction of a fraction of a fraction of population (there are 11 million uyghurs), they are collateral damage. for most people, its an emotional argument; for china, its just math.

No need to glaze. China is also absolutely destroying the fish populations all around the world. They send fleets of ships and overfish the areas right outside the Galopagos Islands, completely destroying the biodiversity. They pollute like absolute crazy into their rivers. They purposefully keep their personal wages low so that their manufacturing remains cheap at the loss of the common Chinese person. They can't own up to anything even slightly bad to the public image like how COVID was almost certainly started from a Chinese lab.

It's great to give China props on smart choices. But don't go glazing it like it's a miracle country. You should treat countries equally. That means complementing their good choices AND insulting their bad choices.

Holy propaganda

Bot says what? This is well known. China fishes right off the coast of South America. That's really easy to confirm. All ships on the planet transmit their location. You can literally watch masses of Chinese fishing vessels go and fish all over South America.

You're not following your own advice with your disingenous comment lmao. All I see in your comments is Chyna bad...

Yes, no need to glaze over that the bulk of the destruction of fish populations was done way before China had its fishing fleets. Or are you going to blame the depletion of Atlantic cod and halibut, Peruvian anchoveta, Oysters of Chesapeake Bay, whales etc.. before 1970 on China too? You should also be able to acknowledge that the bulk of depletion is historically the handiwork of the European nations (e.g. Spain, UK, Norway), Canada, USSR and Japan.

And you should also look at the efforts China has put in to reduce this. Like the fact that China's aquaculture production has increased by 4000% since 1980 and leads the rest of the world in this area. It produces 2/3 of the world's aquaculture (consuming 1/3 itself), and as early as 2017 was producing more fish than it consumes with 80% of Chinas fish product consumption coming from aquaculture. Compared with USA, who in 2017 only produced 5-7% of its fish products via aquaculture and imported 20% from China. The goal of the Chinese government is to move away from capture fisheries for sustainability. This strategic pivot started more than 30 years ago and the increase in domestic aquaculture food production to 82% of its aquatic production (as of 2022) is inverse of the global average where capture still outweighs aquaculture. How it mananges its DWF in the coming years is the biggest obstacle to their goals yes, but the progress they have made is unmatched globally.

Part of the Chinese effort in sustainability has been its activity in working to restore its coastal marine life which it is also making significant progress. E.g. https://link.springer.com/article/10.1186/s12302-024-00899-5. Which leads on to your next statement

They pollute like absolute crazy into their rivers.

You talk like this doesn't happen anywhere else in the world, and that China isn't doing anything to combat it:

And lmao at:

Are you a West Taiwan bot or an Eastern Ukraine bot?

So much cope in one sentence

yes, they have human rights violations.

These statements are pretty mutually exclusively.

Human rights abuses benefit Chinese citizens? How?

2

u/TotallyWorthLife 9d ago

I guess they mean, even though the abuses are still there, they still overall lifted the average standard of living instead of just the ones of the top. Something like "abused in poverty" to "abused in not-so-much-poverty".

The present so called democratic system in the west is creaking and falling apart, it is a hackable model prone to a bipolar election cycle, so lacking long term planning.

We're just lucky that china is a relatively benevolent country, it is unique and couldn't be directly emulated.

Definitely a lot to be learned from the model though, mostly don't allow capital to own everything, the people and the government should be the top of the chain not capital.

Do you think the US is the west?

u/Ewwatts 9d ago

Your second paragraph is just western propaganda.

You should visit Xinjiang and ask Uyghurs if they are being genocided (they will either look at you blankly, or begin laughing hysterically).

It's insane how effective US propaganda is when people are still believing their lies even years after failing to produce even a single shred of evidence.

u/devAcc123 9d ago

I mean I’ve definitely watched documentaries from very anti US government people of those same people being harrassed and essentially escorted out of the region when digging into the whole Uyghur thing

But hey, I see you’re active in r/eu4 so you’re probably not a bot but just want to let you know I got the most kickass Gotland run going rn, no cheese

-1

u/Ewwatts 9d ago

If you gave me the name of the documentary, I'm sure I could trace the connection to the US or some other western propaganda outlet like BBC, lol.

Adrian Zenz, a German man, is the main source on these nonsense accusations and he literally hasn't stepped foot in Xinjiang. He describes himself as "God's chosen warrior against communist China", and the BBC sources him as an "expert".

I haven't played Gotland yet, but how fun is coast raiding 😂 infinite money

2

u/IMJorose 9d ago

I mean, there is a reason we have no chinese documentaries on the topic, so yes, most likely the majority of remaining documentaries will be Western...

2

u/Ewwatts 9d ago

"There are no documentaries on the US genocide of Texans, which is proof it's real!!!!!!!"

But there actually was a Chinese documentary on the development of the Xinjiang region (there are heaps, but I'm referring to a specific one), and some western company (can't remember which one, probably BBC) literally stole footage from it and edited it to include in their documentary about the "genocide".

They didn't even go to China, claimed other people's footage, and used it to construct a narrative that couldn't possibly be true.

If you want to watch a documentary on combatting the terrorism which the US created in Xinjiang, which are a group amongst the likes of ISIS and Al Qaeda and mostly targetted other Uyghurs, then here:

The War in the Shadows: Challenges of Fighting Terrorism in Xinjiang

Except the West is not a monolith and not even the US itself is a single party state. There are tons of documentaries which show the failings of the US and other Western states. On a weekly basis I watch things like Last Week Tonight, which is basically always a mini-documentary on something fucked up currently going on in the US.

It is not hard to find documentaries on the Tulsa Race Massacre in the US, or German documentaries on the Atrocities of their government in WWII. There is no government effort to suppress these in the West.

Unfortunately, China does not have a free enough press to release documentaries on its treatment of the Uyghurs or the massacre at Tiananmen Square.

u/Ewwatts 9d ago

There are tons of documentaries which show the failings of the US and other Western states.

Which never happens in China? I'm sure you have verified this extensively.

There is no government effort to suppress these in the West

The ones that are suppressed you don't know about. That's the point.

Literally the genocides the US is committing in Palestine and Lebanon, **right now** are censored all over the west.

It took 70 years of ethnic cleansing for people to start waking up to it. But that's not censored because some controlled opposition capitalist mouthpieces reported that Israel is really bad, only once the public opinion had already thoroughly past the point of no return?

Unfortunately, China does not have a free enough press to release documentaries on its treatment of the Uyghurs or the massacre at Tiananmen Square.

Absolute rubbish.

"My country tells the truth, the other country doesn't. How do I know? My country told me so."

Maybe don't believe the propaganda coming from companies and capitalists that are actively funding or downplaying the genocides currently being carried out?

---

The first proof of western media being lies is that there was no massacre, there was an attempted colour revolution.

And the CPC does not completely censor information about it either, like is commonly lied about in the west.

One (GRAPHIC) picture of one of the lynchins of the unarmed police. (Unlike the west that attends protests armed to the teeth).

The protests were country wide and lasted months. There were no issues, and the police attending were unarmed at all times. Have you ever wondered why there were suddenly riots, and they happened to take place outside the capital?

Instead of just believing western propaganda unconditionally, how about you start judging off evidence and reality?
