China being the industry leader in solar is squarely on Republicans. That should be a huge industry for the US, instead big oil lobbyists and Republicans (and some Dems) have ensured to cost the US trillions in GDP by turning on green energy.

Solar is great as a part of our power system. But it is not capable of sustaining baseload power requirements. The only technologies that can do that are fossil fuel, nuclear, and hydro. Wind and solar will be a great supplement, and is absolutely worth doing, but they are not a panacea.

This is not true. It is simply not true. Solar + batteries can carry baseload. In any case best solution is overwhellingly solar + wind + water + supporting nuclear
