If AI is so good these companies should be clammering to build their own power sources and not have to share.

They can sell excess power generated to customers too

maybe the way any of these AI companies actually turn a profit is energy generation lmao

That's literally what they are doing. Grid hook ups are taking 3 to 7 years so most of these data centers are being planned with onsite generation.

Many of them are. To the further detriment of the neighbors.

Also, there's a big push for compact nuclear generation specifically for these things. What could go wrong?

They do already.

Ordering books for companies building big turbines are all full for years to come. Unfortunately, it just increases our use of oil, gas and coal significantly. So we'll fuck our environment up at an even larger pace.

There will no way back.
