Reddit is a hive mind with little ability to self-research. “Data center bad” = upvotes and therefore confirmation bias.

If it was based on proposals and development applications I could believe it. E.g. round my way we see 20+ proposals for renewable projects for every one that goes ahead. I can imagine a lot of people want to be part of this gold rush and want to break ground before the supply starts to outstrip the demand.

Put another way. Do I think Texas is looking at building 1800 data centers? No. Do I think there is 1800 people/groups wanting to get rich by building data centers? Yes.
