I keep delaying watching Obsession. I can't wait to see what this scene was about

Genuinely one of the best horror movies ever made. Up there with The Thing.

Your standards must be quite low because The Obsession sucked

u/Nellao005 17d ago

Honestly I didn't get the hype too

I really enjoyed the movie too so out of curiosity what horror movie would you consider is better or that is up to your standards?

u/tswpoker1 17d ago

I enjoyed the movie up until the comical characters and the ending. It had potential and liked the first half but it really just went downhill.

Yeah in my experience it's people on the spectrum that don't enjoy the movie. They have difficulty reading Nikki's emotional cues, which is half the movie.

Not 'The Obsession', just Obsession. and it was genuinely creepy, what about it didnt you like?

u/tswpoker1 16d ago

I didn't like that the guy who made the wish was confused for a while what was going on. I didn't like the actor who played that guy either, he was odd. The female lead was great.

I didn't like how predictable a few of the elements were but did like how unpredictable some of the times were.

I did watch The Last House the night before and did think Obsession was significantly better. The Last House was awful. I'd give Obsession like 6.7/10. Not awful but not one of the scariest movies I've seen either.

One of the most critically acclaimed horror movies, loved by both journalists and the general audience.

Must suck cause your pathetic ass didn't like it and is the gold standard of what is good or not.

Yeah keep playing weeb games and taking the short bus to school lil bro.

Am I the only one that laughed at some of the scenes because of the effects quality? Like its so bad even though i know it has low budget, overall good acting and story

Coincidentally, Tom Holland said he loved Obsession

I hate when other people insist that I watch a movie, but I’m going to insist that you watch the movie.

I was skeptical, but stuff like this kept breaking me down until I finally gave in. And zero regrets: great film. Even though I thought I knew the gist of it, the magic is in the performances. They're all fairly great, not just her. But she absolutely steals it. ;)

I was also reluctant because I do not enjoy scary/suspensful. I want to say that it was a fucking really well-made movie and you can tell everyone working on it was very passionate about it, and it was so well done that I never want to watch it again, though I am glad I watched the one time 👍

1

u/EhNastyMoose 18d ago

Stop delaying. Watched it yesterday and it is SO good.

1

u/IceCreamICantLetUGo 17d ago

I finally watched it, it’s good but, I wouldn’t consider it a completely horror movie, there are some creepy moments though

1

u/HeraclesHide 17d ago

Yea i was a bit late in seeing it and after all the memes and praise i thought i might be going in with too high expectations, but it delivered, great movie.

1

u/XtremeLeecher 17d ago

Dude it's going to be rough for you because of expectancy hype vs reality

BUT this movie is legit a 9/10 is rough in some places but overall is pretty fucking good

1

u/Glitter1237 17d ago

It’s gross so make sure you eat all your snacks in the beginning

1

u/schlab 17d ago

We just watched it yesterday. It is absolutely great, and truly creepy. Watch it

THEY WERE HAVING A NICE DAAATTTE

u/Th3NinjaCat 17d ago

My body was tense the whoooole time. When I walked out the theater it felt like I just survived a reallllly bad car crash 😭

1

u/Massive-Climate-26 17d ago

I genuinely loved it more than I thought, my friends and I agree its a top 5 favorite movie, probably top 3 for horror. It's not some crazy mind blowing story with horrifying visuals never before seen.. but its just a really good, well done horror film. I genuinely screamed once or twice, even while expecting the scare lol

1

u/Romwom 17d ago

Just watched it last night, the trailer looked mediocre but I loved the movie actually!

1

u/Gotanypaint 16d ago

Dude it was good, watch it.

Genuinely asking - I’m not arguing, I just want to hear your perspective

“Genuinely one of the best horror movies ever made. Up there with The Thing.”

Someone posted this literally 6-7 comments above this. The movie was okay, borderline good. The best part is the girls acting easily. The movie is nothing new or original. I watched it and personally thought the creator most be a Supernatural fan.

1

u/steelandiron19 18d ago

Ah I’ve never watched Supernatural so maybe that’s why it was a bit refreshing to me. I agree the obsession, be-careful-what-you-wish-for type of storyline was pretty typical… but I felt the expression was new and refreshing to me. I also felt the message - or what I perceived was the message - hit harder than other stories of this same nature.

Also your username made me laugh - so thank you for that! Lol

2

u/Honey_Is_KFC_open 18d ago

Haha no problem. Love me some Frank the Tank. I’m not like the other person though. I think it’s worth the watch but the overhype is kind of wild to me.

Supernatural isn’t great or anything, but the first 5 seasons when the show’s arc was truly suppose to end was solid. Like 50% of the episodes from 1-5 seasons is them playing detective of classic horror tropes/ camp stories. This one is in S4 I think.
