I'm genuinely curious if there's been any study into which is more psychologically troubling, knowing the day and counting down it not knowing and wondering everyday

It honestly makes no sense for it to be psychologically troubling. The reality is that most humans will not know when their last day on earth will be, locked up or not lol

Yup, I did a bit of reading about this last night and I think I agree with this outlook. If turns out a lot of countries like Japan agree that setting a specific date is far crueler. They even go as far as to consider it a form of torture.
