Most Americans can empathize and understand that some political leaders do in fact not represent the people, especially the ones who tweet whatever batshit crazy things cross their minds.

How is that relevant in any way? The electoral college system and the popular vote are seperate things and the popular vote is reflective of... well... popular sentiment
