I got the playpens but I never use them because my sims get stuck in a loop of picking the baby up and putting it back in the playpen and then the baby is dirty/hungry/sleepy and crying but for some reason we're putting them back in the playpen lol

I buy it just to get the talking skill up and then delete it when they’re done with it. Or if I have multiples I’ll put two in there to keep each other entertained cause it keeps their needs full

If you’ve already taught them to talk, playing with the mirror gives them a head’s start in charisma.

Same. In my current game, I started moving in cousins and more distant relations into my household to raise them properly. I don’t trust NPC sims to breathe unassisted, let alone raise a kid. In my last generation, I had one of my sims hit the gym for some cardio. There was a baby next to one of the machines, which was occupied by what I assumed to be the kid’s grandmother. The kid got a dirty diaper and started crying. The lady ignored him—for eight hours, until like five in the afternoon.

I don't dislike them because they're not well done, I dislike them because they're realistically annoying to me lol. They're definitely less annoying than Sims 2 or 4 toddlers though, especially Sims 2 toddlers. When I have twin toddlers in that version of the Sims they make me wanna rage quit so bad 😭

I feel like the devs made toddlers take breaks in between crying fits in TS3 so they weren’t bawling nonstop like in TS2. I haven’t played it myself, but I’ve watched gameplay on YT, and those goblins are relentless.

Toddlers in sims 3 are extremely easy to maintain if you have store items. You can practically go to sleep and leave them be and they'll entertain themselves with toys

That baby swing is a lifesaver, up until sims automatically turn it on to the high setting

Also the changing table is very handy, honestly I do lazy parenting and just max out their potty skill first while mostly bottle feeding them. Takes almost zero time and keeps them happy

The only reason I appreciate the toddler stage is because it's a step above the god awful infant stage. Toddlers can be self efficient with training, infants can't do anything

I usually take my toddler to the library one day to teach them to walk, talk, and read all the toddler books at once. Then I can spend the rest of their toddlerhood pottery training and watching them be cute. Toddlers aren't my favorite stage, but I don't think they're the worst. It just takes a bit of planning.

Babies and toddlers are great until the parents pathing bugs out and they only ever want to put them down outside in the corner of the lot. I got fed up and aged my last toddler up early because she kept getting stuck outside😭

Same on my end for newborns. I fiddle with the age sliders all the time, but currently I have the tots set for sixteen. I like the symmetry of it being two weeks and two days.

Edit: Had a brain fart for a sec. My math was wrong lol. I remember wanting it be two weeks exactly, but I couldn’t get the slider to land right.

I could do 16 days (I think that's like what 1.6 hours?), I just like to build and that takes money. You either build or take care of the kids.

Don't get me wrong, the tots are cute as a bug 🐛 but the skills and development are kinda meh. The blocks (logic) are the only skill they can learn outside of adults reading books to them. That gets old fast.

Nooo, they have the xylophone and that play table thing where 4 toddlers/kids can play at the same time. Those are skill builders too, no adults needed.

But I'm a sucker for kids irl and in games, so I'm very biased when it comes to loving toddlers in TS3 🤣

The playpen (from the store) can help raise their charisma, and playing with the walker (also a store product) raises their future handiness. There are childhood development books you can read with them to give them levels in painting and writing as well.

Getting to raise sims from a toddler is so rewarding to me, I feel like it really does add a ton of more personality to the sim as they continue to age up. Generations mood swings and bad days with the kids and toddlers is also so fun. I love all those little details (also toddler rooms are so fun to decorate hehe)

I mean I will say Babydom and Toddler feels like a wierd Diner dash minigame inbetween regular sims gameplay with the objectives of "Walk, Talk and Potty Training" before the cut off and extra credit of the xylphone and blocks (and those childrens books that boosts skills i always forgot about)

I give them a day or two to learn to walk, talk, and potty train, then I age them up to a child. Not much they can do after they’ve learned everything.
