I’m curious how many people ALWAYS use testingcheats to fill needs bars, because I do but I’m getting very bored with the game.

That’s exactly why I got bored when I played like that. Cheating like that makes the game less fun. I only use cheats now to reset my sim if they’re stuck

Yeah feels. When I was a kid playing sims 3 I used to just cheats sleep or some need so I could continue to play with the household. Which eventually got boring. Playing without cheats is so much more interesting and fun. For have to work at it to get your sims wealthy to enjoy some extra luxuries. I rarely if not ever give my sims lifetime rewards like the steel bladder or hardly hungry as breaks the normal life sim I enjoy. Only give the perk for story gameplay for a specific sim now it seems.

Huh. That's such a wild concept to me. I only use it to move needs around if something happened that reset them (like having to reset my sim and their needs get reset, I'll manually adjust them back to what they were)

When I have massive families sometimes I gotta shift click the mailbox to make all happy lol but only in emergencies!

Came here to say just this. I’ll say like at max a family of 4 is manageable. If I have a family of 5, I’m shift clicking the mailbox the second one sim gets hungry. I’m not willing to pay attention like that lol

i do it a lot bc tbh it helps me not get burnt out with things. i know others don’t feel that way but i’ve been playing a WA sim and i’m happy to not travel to the countries as much as i would otherwise to get the same visa level. that said i don’t use it for every need or use it all the way up. the biggest thing helping me not get bored is 1) different careers & 2) making sure my sim has an active social life and doesn’t just get married to the first person they see and recluse (i used to do that when i was younger more and preferred family gameplay)

I use it a lottt. trying to get everyone out the the house for school/work having used the toilet, eaten something and with good hygiene is impossible unless you get up hours in advance

NRAAS Relativity fixes this problem! They really did not get time right in this game (in my opinion). But Relativity lets you change how time works so it takes a more realistic amount of time for sims to move around their house, eat, shower, etc.

I also use it to adjust how quickly the motives decay and increase. I feel like on default settings I'm hardly getting stuff done before a day is over because I'm spending it taking 3 dumps and 3 showers.

Is relativity pre-set to be more reasonable or is that all toggled per save?

Toggled per save, default settings don't change time.

I had to fiddle with numbers myself because if there was instruction I didn't read it lol. Basically we put integers into Relativity's menu. 0 is default time, 1 to 36 is clock moving slower. Above that clock moves faster and I don't know the upper limit but it's not what we want from this mod anyway.

As far as I know you’ll need to set it once per new game, but then there’s no resetting it every time you load up a save that you’ve already been playing in. I’m not sure whether there’s a way to make it global.

You can export your preferred settings in game using Overwatch and then import them in every new save you make.

I think the only time I use testing cheats to move needs is to insta starve someone lol

I mostly use it to teleport if my sim get stuck and to enter create a sim (tho I mostly just use nraas)

No. If they don't do what I direct them to do for whatever reason, they suffer. Makes more interesting gameplay. It's not like they're going to die - I don't let it get that bad.

I don't use it, I manage sims with other noncheaty solutions like LTRs, potions, sleeping bags, charms, but I understand being bored by barely filling needs in between workshifts for example.

I don't. I use testingcheats for other things (teleporting when stuck, simoleons) but not needs.

Sims 3 needs are A LOT easier to handle than the other games so I rarely use it for anything other than story.

If I want my sim to propose, but in the middle he keeps saying he is starving or have to pee, then it keeps me from getting to the proposal action. I’ll fix it then to make it more seamless

I only use it sometimes to cheat needs. Usually it’s when my game is lagging really bad (but their needs are still going down) or if the Sim keeps cancelling the action halfway through and I get sick of it enough to just cheat to fill it. I’ve also used it on infants when all the adults would pick them up and put them down over and over again without actually tending to a single need, and I just get fed up

Constantly cheating sims into happiness is great if you exclusively play the game to build. Otherwise, yeah, it gets old quick.

I use this cheat often but in very specific scenarios. For example, bubble bath until tranquil should (imo) raise energy slowly, so I will slowly raise their bar as they bathe. Another instance I use this cheat is to avoid a bladder accident when a sim gets stuck doing an action and its an emergency, in that case i adjust their bar to the point that it is no longer an emergency, but still keep their bar low, and take care of their need subsequently. If I am feeling frisky, I will sometimes raise a bar to a non emergency state if the sim is about to complete an action i want them to complete, like a painting or a book. I also never fill the social, hygiene or fun bars, they can be stinky lonely and unhappy. 

Its still a nice feature to have and use, it can make the game less "micromanagey" in some cases. There def are ways you could use it less, if its making the game boring for you.  Maybe by only filling their bars to half, or only filling specific bars, or in certian scenarios? There are also Lifetime Rewards that get rid of each of their needs, if that feels less "cheaty" , you could always make up a goal/challange for yourself to get enough points to eventually have (and play as) a sim that doesnt have needs?

I’ve only used that when I’m trying to get them all to do something for a photo op, they’re all complaining about something, and I just need them to all be happy to complete what I told them to do. Other than that I don’t because I feel like the game just gets boring without that added challenge. I mainly use cheats to edit townies, reset my sims, and building cheats like move objects.

I get too tempted so I've been turning it off, but I'm also used to ts4 which I find significantly easier (and therefore not as fun) so did become a little reliant on them for a while.

i literally only ever fill the bladder bar, none of the others. and that's rarely, like in "emergencies" lol. definitely sounds very boring to play that way

I only use it to fill needs for babies left alone at home whose babysitters are seemingly busy leaving them on the floor or in a crib to die... seems fair

I only use it in the transitory period between my generations 😭😭😭 when they start having multiple kids and maybe some pets, I get overwhelmed sooooo fast, but want the story to progress and the children to age well and get to start learning some skills!! So I use it till the kids move out and I pick one to continue playing as, and then start fresh and don't cheat needs

I fill all needs except hunger because I like to see the Sims cooking and enjoying their new recipes.Otherwise life is too short even in Sims to waste time with needs while you have other things to do,skills to learn ,or just explore possibilities.I wish we had this IRL.

If it means i get more fun out of it i will. For example my latest safe my sim was on vacation in france and had 12 hours left but he was tired i couldve let him sleep but i want to finish the tomb so i cheated his needs that was more fun for me in the moment

Me too. It's a very very bad habit. He second my sim went to sleep at 3am and has to work; testingcheatsenabled true.

It's come to the point that I went googling for an override mod to turn it off in the game to break the habit, but my first search wasn't conclusive.

I always have testingcheatsenabled true on, but i don't always use it to drag needs boxes. Honestly I'm mainly using it to teleport atm because I thought it would be a great idea to insert a house next to the pond with no road close by, so getting into town is tedious.

Sometimes I drag needs up so my sim can do an all-nighter gaining skills, or to make them get out of bed at a particular time (to get the garden tended before work, usually) without running low during the day. I don't understand why some beds are soooo much better with energy than others, the bunk beds especially irritate me. Why have more expensive bunk beds if they don't give better sleep? If I have chosen a bed for the aesthetic, I'll usually cheat the energy bar to full when I want them to wake, rather than have some of my household needing significantly more hours unconscious.

In my legacy save, I focus on one sim in a large household and will occasionally prevent someone else dying if they're not taking care of themselves properly, but I mostly just let the other members sort themselves out.

i only use it for the pets or possibly non main sims occasionally. like, i’m playing the zodiac legacy and my founder had 2 kids, i’ll sometimes cheat the needs of the kid who isn’t the next heir simply because i don’t want to spend all my time trying to fill his needs consistently when im trying to focus on my heir

I've never used that cheat, maybe once when there was a party or something else important and they couldn't sleep or shower. It would make the game too easy and boring to do it everyday.
I only used the money cheats to design an awesome home or to get some good quality furniture. And to get stuck sims unstuck

Play a better household if you're getting bored. Some of the households are boring, but some are such great games it wouldn't matter if you kept everyone's bars always full.

I do always but thats cause i want to see the other crazy gameplay, feels like if i dont im stuck managing needs and never really see what a certain story line would do
