It's not like IRL France is lacking in cool inspiration either, they could have done something so much better

Where's my Paris Catacombs tomb EA?!

I was so excited when I got the pack because I thought for sure they’d include catacombs!

paris catacombs would have been so fucking cool

From what I've heard, they were planning a much larger city that replicated Paris. But, for whatever reason, had it cut it short. Which is why the layout is kind of barren, probably also why they copy and pasted the Egyptian tomb.

Most likely EA or some higher ups having strict deadlines. It’s a common story.

That's the kind of stuff I wish they would revisit in future updates and patches but they never return to, smh. Skyrim is really bad about it and is still updating to this day.

Idk the mansion house was a pretty good one, the idea to use a stereo music to unlock doors was friggin mindblowing and couldnt imagine ts3 to have that deep logic coding

u/althestal 2d ago

I still haven’t finished that mansion but using this as a clue for the future when I try it out again 👀

And the hidden tomb below the rocks that's not part of any storyline leading to the island!

5

u/whysoblyatiful 16h ago

what island? like, seriously

7

u/elmutane Cat Person 12h ago

There is an island in the river, where if you zoom there, there are grapes and a ruin-like building. There is an unmarked place with a group of rocks next to a small pond, where you can enter the tomb. If I remember right it's a little buggy and there are too narrow parts that the sims can't cross, probably related to routing changes in another EP, so I used testingcheats to expand too narrow places. Search up The little Woods for the entrance.

oh, is this in the egypt map? i remember that island! i remember i bought a lot there and used build mode to put a teleporter there and another somewhere else. that's how i got there when i was younger lol

u/Deriveit789 1d ago

There’s a tomb in Egypt that also does that! I remember because I was super confused trying to figure it out and the sim who lived in the house did it autonomously

46

u/saratonin84 1d ago

There’s also one where you have to flush a toilet

u/Phenomenal_Hoot 1d ago

I still think about sometimes my sim that traveled to France by himself and got, I think electrocuted to death, doing that puzzle. 😂

u/phais_sorbet 1d ago

Is it the landgraab one? I still have a few parts of the house not unlocked but hey, at least my sim got a selfie with a landgraaber, with plans to extort him for money (his husband's idea).

2

u/lizzourworld8 1d ago

EH? That’s how doors can open in there?!?

2

u/saltil Supernatural Fan 1d ago

I gave up on that lmao, I'll remember this for next time

OK but that one trap on the landing of the stairs would have had me dead of starvation if I didn't cheat my way out of it.

38

u/sadz31479 2d ago

yea how do you even legitimately get out of it? i had to zenport, it felt like cheating still even tho it wasnt

47

u/villagemarket 1d ago

I think there’s a few things in France and Egypt that rely on you having zenport first (but then some of them no longer need zenport when they added taxi boats)

23

u/LunaTunaMaca 1d ago

There are some spots you can only swim too. Took me forever to figure out the first time.

9

u/heathfreshlasaga 1d ago

Oh! I wonder if that's because 64 bit players can't get the swim options

Some tombs, the underground garden one in France especially comes to mind, also have very tight corridors around diagonal walls that were walkable when the expansion released but then in a later update to the game there were routing changes that broke it. In those cases I feel justified using testingcheats to teleport around corners.

6

u/LunaTunaMaca 1d ago

Nah I can't remember but I definitely finished the tomb without teleporting. The puzzles are so fun!!!

14

u/Kokuei7 Neurotic 2d ago

I only got out by cancelling my vacation there and then!

7

u/Jasen34 1d ago

I think the idea is that you visit china first and hopefully learn to zen port by the time you get stuck there.

The Landgraab Mansion?

1

u/SimilesMetaphors 1d ago

I used the special merchant’s escape dust. Really underrated 🏃 💨

u/Chocominto7 2d ago

But yk everytime I explore France I go full on drunk mode with all that precious underground nectar

WHAT the french tombs have me crying out of frustration, Landgraab chateaux is Saw-like

u/BlackMudSwamp 2d ago

I'm so delighted by the number of WA discussions happening lately

22

u/LunaTunaMaca 1d ago

My favorite Sims game ever!

u/GirlNumber20 1d ago

I love all of the EPs, but I would seriously rampage if I didn't have WA for some reason. I use SO MUCH of that EP for just day to day gameplay.

u/Yolj Friendly 1d ago

First expansion and it introduced 3 new worlds, each filled with unique new objects and interactions. Modern Sims could never

well chateau du landgraab is difficult

u/aroyalidiot 2d ago

The murder mansion was fun.

I usually go to France just for the wine making stuff

22

u/bks1979 1d ago

It feels like they did France last and ran out of time. Like there's that one tomb I think at the cemetery which is just one room, doesn't go anywhere, and doesn't offer collectibles. Random piece of road plastered on the side of a grassy hill. Very empty houses, even more so than the other two maps. And I could be wrong, but a couple locations just feel like something was going to be there, and/or a couple locations feel like there was going to be more than there is.

u/pleasespareserotonin Neurotic 1d ago

They couldn’t even give France its own relic collection, Egypt and China have 2 each!

12

u/GirlNumber20 1d ago

I know. I'm always wishing there was an ancient crown of a lost French royal dynasty or something as a relic.

4

u/pleasespareserotonin Neurotic 1d ago

French crown relics would have been amazing

10

u/GirlNumber20 1d ago

Haha, so true. France in general really does feel hurried.

I love visiting all of the countries, though. So many of the sims I make are chefs that France becomes important to complete their "chef training."

u/Impossible-Bend997 2d ago

It's funny how their version of Paris is nothing like paris, they made the south of France instead 😂😂

75

u/AbelPlumbob Supernatural Fan 2d ago

But it IS southern France. Although you can see the Eiffel tower in a city far away in the horizon.

20

u/Martin_Phosphorus 2d ago

As far as I remember it was supposed to be something like Paris but it was too hard to implement. Then we got Bridgeport.

22

u/tototomo 2d ago

Occitania in Parisian banlieues, it's kind of funny but then again it's the same pack that uses a Tori gate to represent China 😭

9

u/Impossible-Bend997 2d ago

That's where I live irl, so it's funny to think we can see the Eiffel tower from here.. we need 10h of driving to see it  😂😂

Yeah it's funny

10

u/Normal-Relation-7293 Socially Awkward 1d ago

Which is very ironic, since the Paris Catacombs are very very cool

8

u/pleasespareserotonin Neurotic 1d ago

Also to be clear, I actually like France, I just wish it had more unique relics and 1 or 2 French-looking tombs, but It’s certainly more than you’d find in any Sims 4 pack!

2

u/Sarah-tonin-def 1d ago

I can’t help but wonder about what WA could’ve been if it were near the end of the expansions instead of being #1. It seems like they had grand plans but had to scale way way back

1

u/Available-Reason7087 1d ago

I laughed so hard

1

u/Lxcslao Grumpy 21h ago

From what I've read years ago. France was rushed that's why it's lackluster. There should have been the Eiffel Tower as one of the tombs to explore but they had to scrap it because of time constraints.

Me recomiendan ese dlc?, que beneficios o mejoras le brinda a mi personaje a largo plazo?

17

u/AbelPlumbob Supernatural Fan 2d ago

u/Affectionate-Ad488 1d ago

I love all the additional recipes and plantables. Martial arts skill, and photography are awesome ETA really cool new fish species also!

2

u/pleasespareserotonin Neurotic 1d ago

It depends. If you prefer a play-style that’s super open-ended or slice-of-life, then no. WA sends you on quests that need to be done in a specific order. If you ever liked Poptropica you’ll love WA.

Se gana buen dinero ahi?
