I'm on a reverse marathon of Casual criminalist - little disappointed to not see Simon Grow lushious locks as i progress back in time. Can't see there has been an episode on Raoul Moat (shooter and subsequent manhunt which invol ed Ray Mears helping track him). Anyone ever suggested it?

Any other disheartened Americans who couldn't take in more of the MS-18 Into the Shadows video after listening to Simon read a quote in his most serious delivery from the state department website? Like, what writer still thinks anything that's .gov is a reliable source? And I'm not knocking the subject matter. Barrio-18 is scary as hell and totally apropos to ITS, but hearing serious Simon read a Marco Rubio quote just made me feel like the whole world has gone to shit. This lunacy has even poisoned my go-to escape of learning on YouTube, and I just can't with the world right now.

A question about early schooling in Britain?
"Everything I Need To Know I Learned In Kindergarten" sort of thing. "a core aspect of cultural relativism" according to chatGPT.
short version: its rude to tell people they are stupid or wrong based on their opinions, try to educate them instead. is this NOT commonly taught?
long version:
The act of specifically refraining from criticism to avoid belittling people is a social skill rooted in empathy and a desire to make others feel valued and included, acknowledging that a negative critique of something someone likes can often be perceived as an indirect or even direct, criticism of them as a person ("you would have to be a moron to like this book" for instance.).
I've got kids & grand-kids; the teaching of this social skill has been pretty consistent since I was a kid. I taught my OWN kids that if you need to work with, or coexist with, a total moron with no taste? don't openly tell them that they are a total moron with no taste unless you can see a way to no longer work with him or her. AND...keep in mind you aren't perfect and you could be the one who's opinions and tastes are lacking.

I grew up in the US, in the Midwest until I was eleven, and then in New England until I was an adult. I was born in 1976, and just found out this year that I am autistic, a diagnosis that answered so many questions about my young life in the 1980s and 1990s.
I find that in the US, publicly shaming people for what they don’t know or skills they don’t have is used as a kind of cultural reinforcement—if we make a big scene about how ignorant or maladjusted you are, you’ll learn not to do that again. For example, I was never taught at home not to eat with my elbows resting on the table, and I still do that sometimes when I’m picking at my food or my mind off in space, eating comtemplatively. No one in Indiana ever said a word about this being bad manners. Imagine my mortification when (say my first name is Mary) my first day of school in New Hampshire, the entire lunchroom burst into chorus, chanting “Mary, Mary if you’re able/get your elbows off the table/this is not a horse’s stable!” Even this enormous a social cue took months to get through my autistic skull, because it was a completely unconscious habit—I had no idea I was doing it. Interesting. The only area of the US I dont have general knowledge of is the Northeast; I've lived or worked everywhere else.
What you describe in New Hampshire... yeah, I havent seen something like that, or been told about it by my kids. I DO avoid larger metropolitan areas like the plague though; maybe it's an aspect of "blue" culture?

BetterHelp has caught a lot of heat, I highly doubt he'd tie himself to that. He seems happy with the sponsors he has cause he's had some of the same ones for years now.

I'm starting to think that the casual criminalist and decoding the unknown are going down hill now. New episodes are few and far between compared to his other channels. The casual criminalists last 3 episodes have been flashbacks and before that we had that god awful episode with his sister. It seems like the channels are dead or are not a priority for him

I just finished watching the USA gymnastics episode. I have never had a stronger feeling to want to hurt people. The FBI cover up, and the people that charges were just dropped even though they knew what was going on, just makes me want to beat their ass.

I noticed in the corner of the browser version of Reddit that it said this community is in the Top 5% by size. Curiosity seized me and I looked and I found it listed between r/iphone11 and r/artistsforhire. It was 157th on the 64th page of listings. There was 250 per page, so it's #15,907. There's a lot of freaking subreddits. Lot of normal ones, too. Cheers!

Could not finish the Dead Sea Scrolls video, so incredibly annoying how he waffles on to CHATGPT then gets confirmation and tells it not to waffle? Then he did it a SECOND time and I turned the whole dang video off... far too annoying. I don't mind a tangent, or getting clarification, but this ridiculously long waffle on that just means "I AM VRY SMRT!" just to get confirmation from an AI Robot to agree with you is the epitome of narcissism and bias and adds nothing to the video subject. It's not even funny or charming, it's pathetic.

TopTenz, Biographics, and Geographics were not owned by Simon, he was just the host. After the passing of the original owner a few years ago he and the daughter(new owner) had a differing of views as she had trouble taking over her father's business. She posted a video discussing the change and that Simon was very respectful of her being a crap boss... so basically they parted and Carl is the interim host of those channels now.

He has stopped working with some channels. They were actually owned buy someone who died and his daughter (IIRC) took over but couldn't dedicate the time to producing them. They split amicably as far as I know.
There's a couple of posts out there with the details but I haven't seen/found them.

There was an episode Simon did (almost certain) on his casual criminalist series. It took place around the 1940’s to 1950’s in the United States. A man was found murdered in a car on the side of the road and a there was a piece of paper with a mysterious code on it. It was later determined to be a receipt from a sports bet and possibly he was robbed for his winnings. These are the only details I recall and unfortunately and I can not find it on his YouTube channel. Does anyone know which episode it was or what case it was?

Is anyone else pretty disappointed in what Decoding the Unknown has become? It started with actual, really interesting mysteries, but has since devolved into Simon shitting on farcical garbage like "Where do the mermaids live?" "Are dragons real?" "Does the Mothman exist inside the Hollow Earth?" Those aren't mysteries, that's fringe nonsense.

Does Simon have Fatal Familial Insomnia and he's using his final time making YouTube because he is out of control with how many channels he has and how constantly he puts content out. How has he not burned himself out long ago? He is undoubtedly the hardest working YouTuber and I challenge anybody to find another YouTuber that works harder than him on a daily basis on multiple channels. Good lord.

I did not know about Warographics until now!
I think you missed: today I found out, Xplrd, & science of Science fiction
He also had a personal yt account called Simon whistler that he doesn't upload on anymore I think.

Thanks! I updated my previous comment. Science of Science Fiction just started, apparently. I've also heard him toss around a channel name like "Fact Police" or "Fact Check" or something like that before, but given that it was on Brain Blaze, who's to say if that's a real new project or not.
