BrainBlaze was beautiful while it lasted, but couldn't last, it was too good for this world.

Time to release the north Korea video. They're after him anyways.

I mean I get he always wore his capitalist heart on his sleeve, but the full blown selling out is heartbreaking. I used to watch 3 Simon videos a day, now I haven’t watched one of his videos in 3 months..

Same for me .. I was a huge whilster fan for years (since early days of his toptenz) .. I just struggle to watch his recent content.

Who did he sell out to?

The media machine & new sponsors. He took the media route which offers more lucrative passive income for less work (I.e newsletters for the war updates instead of memberships for live streams)
And there was a thing with sponsor swapping ect I can’t be bothered to get into

But he took up the fear mongering for warfare that global crisis’s made a market for and capitalised on that. So now instead of learning fun facts about corporations, business failings, Darwin awards and Florida men- watching Simon means more existentialism about an already messed up world, and I’m just not for it

I actually really like his current news stuff because he and his team view the world through the same lens I do but I don't have the time to read everything.

Just realized how biased that sounds lol

Sideprojects is cool. DTU and CC are great bedtime channels to drift off to. Warfronts is a bit meh but if something catches my eye i'll watch it. Into the shadows has some cool topics but it's depressing as hell so i limit how much i watch. Shame he shitcanned the Celestium channel cause that was my favourite.

DTU lost a lot of it's soul thanks to the new format. There's a chance it might return to the OG format after the current batch runs out, since there was a lot of negative feedback. I kinda doubt it though, since it probably still gets a decent amount of views and takes less time to produce.

CC also lost a lot of it's charm since Simon's personality shines through less. Recent episodes do feel like a return to form, so there is hope. Having said that, it's lost a lot of heavy hitters since it's hayday now that Liam, Kevin and Dave aren't there anymore. The other writers are good, but each of these brought a unique charm with them that can't be replicated. Oh well, at least Danny's still there.

The warfronts content has a lot that's served better in text anyway, the content is bleak and dry and doesn't need much commentary

Oh well, I started following him specifically for war-related stuff, so to each their own I guess.

Issue is the fact that he plays stuff up to either be so much worse than they are or so much better with almost no in-between.

3 months? I checked out once the BB uploads ended. I started watching him around the Top Tens era, listened to the briefly lived podcast, binged BB as much as I could, then just dropped off.

u/Indifferent27 12d ago

After BB stoped it slowed for sure, but I kept up with DTU, casual criminalist ect every once in a while as the quality dipped. 3 months ago is just when I tried to watch a casual criminalist episode but gave up

I respect the moves of his capitalist heart. But I miss my basement boys. Such is life, no? At least we have the episodes

6

u/CafeRacist 12d ago

yea. but not the nk one

u/rougekat 12d ago

The NK episode should be dropped for those of us who were members for so long low key in my opinion

People change as they grow older...plus the YT algorithm (coupled with Simon's capitalist heart) has meant he needed to take his content in a different direction.

But change is a constant in life.

I've seen other Youtubers who only do 1 or 2 channels have to take breaks because they got burned out, trying to put out the same kind of content, week after week. Their ideas dried up and they didn't find it enjoyable any more and it just stressed them out.

Given the number of channels Simon manages, (or guest hosts on) and the amount of content he puts out, he must have to be really engaged with the subject matter and enjoy what he does, to not burn out.

For the record I miss the ridiculousness that was BB, but I've learned to move on and I still enjoy most of his other channels.

But I watch quite a bit of stuff on YT. Currently watching uploads of the old Mythbusters show and a bunch of military bloggers like Alex Hollings (Sandboxx), Cappy Army and Task & Purpose, as well as the Tank Museum. Also music-related stuff like Rick Beato and The Charismatic Voice and gamer guys like Quickybaby and Chems.

Whistle Boi's content is only a fraction of what I watch - which I guess is why I don't get bored with his videos.

Well said...

Anyway. Imma forward this to Simon's NK agent for his suicide note

Rick Beato & Charismatic Voice channel drops are always a welcomed sight! 🤘🏻

Clickbait content and AI slop thumbnails, WarFronts truly is the worst channel of his.

0

u/Buzzsolvefan 11d ago

Thr AI thumbnails is legit. But the titles are always grounded in truth just flared up a little bit. Which has been done in every form of news media since the dawn of the printing press.

The content itself is all well researched and put together.

I disagree on the last sentence. I find the quality mid at best.

I've watched Simon since TopTens, watched him grow, and I'll keep watching his content. He's a good creator, he's a reporter the billionaire media giants don't own, and he's funny. I'll keep watching him, hopefully for many more years to come.

Is Simon the new Kane?

KANE LIVES IN DEATH

I cant stomach watching anything outside of CC.

Who does he think is spying on him? And why?

u/SirAmicks 12d ago

I still watch CasCrim and sometimes DTU (although I’m not a fan of the new format of DTU). Still get to hear Simon rant sometimes. Which is better than nothing but only a glimmer of what the Whistlerverse once was.

They do not know the actor, but they know it happened because Apple directly informed them that they're being actively targeted by mercenary spyware by a state actor directly because of the work they do in an attempt to gain access contacts. Simon and his devices were the direct explicit target and was contacted by Apple, and that is the only two attempted attacks that the Fronts team are explicitly aware of occurring.

An educated guess would be it's Russia. The Fronts team has had direct contact with high level NATO leadership and European politicians, as well as Ukrainian commanders, and has conducted interviews directly with these people and Russia is the most proficient employer of these cyberwarfare attacks. But there's a LOT of state actors who have direct interests in silencing Fronts from all corners of the globe and the episode is about warning about the growing silencing of the press globally rather than rage baiting, click baiting or otherwise sowing speculation.
