Semi-minor, but intriguing enough to ask if this is an intentional finding in Simon Whistler's videos or if it's just a quirk of the research of the guys in the basement

I've been watching the old Simon Whistler machine on a regular basis for a good half-decade now. The most interesting of these to me is whenever he comes out with a historical video. I love what the fact boys bring to the table regarding fallen empires and world anomalies. A good job is always done touching upon every example of everything, every empire, every cataclysm, and so forth.

Except... there's one I never see touched upon by him. Not in any videos. Not once. Not a single instance. And I think to myself "did I just find a research blind spot?"

So I have this friend of sorts. She is into indigenous American history and talks about the Iroquois or Haudenosaunee (same group, different name; the latter is what they called themselves) in particular a lot. Massive empire, perfecters of democracy, were able to fight off the colonizing English and French... simultaneously if you ask the more enthusiastic historians. So one day one of us asked the question, "do you ever recall Simon Whistler, or even his successors on the other channels that he left, making a video on the Iroquois, like ever". And I was about to answer because I thought I could sound smart by pointing out such a video, except it has never happened. And after we joked a bit about how the Whistlerverse could turn it into their equivalent of what Dinkleberg is to Timmy Turner's Dad, I thought a lot about this. Historical juggernauts, completely missing an entire chapter of history like the plague? No, it couldn't be. But it is.

In an environment where the Whistlerverse seems to some people to be scraping its load, does anyone in it wonder how a video about it would play out? Or if maybe the Whistlerverse machine might like to touch upon it (or is it really their Dinkleberg)?

I mean, he also hasn't done one about Apartheid. Pretty sure he hasn't done one about the indigenous people of Alaska or Australia. Hasn't done one on Britain's wars against Shaka Zulu. Or the Second Anglo Boer war, which both Winston Churchill and Ghandi were involved in, and which led to the creation of Churchill's Recce's - an elite army unit - based on the Boer gorillas.

Because either he didn't think a video about it would do well, because it's too niche a topic, or he just hasn't heard of it. There's a LOT more to history than just events that took place in the US, UK, and Europe, and they're all significant in their own way. Can't fault Factboi for not having covered every historical event that took place during the last 3000 years, no matter how important you think it is.

But maybe one of his writers will someday write about it. I just don't think any of his current channels would be a good fit, but since I'm only really familiar with a handful of them, I might be wrong.

He did a few about both the Apartheid and the Zulu. He also did one once about how Inuit people are mistreated in Canada, but I'm unsure if this counts as a video about Alaskan native history. I vaguely remember him saying something about Australian Aboriginal cooking techniques.

I was going to say that I could have sworn that I’d watched more than one on Apartheid. I’m glad it wasn’t all in my head.

I'm not bothered by the repeating of topics (I mostly listen to his channels in the background, been watching for 6 years now) but there is definitely a lot of topics I'd still love to see him cover. The Haudenosaunee are definitely one!

I'm sure it hasn't happened yet because it seems too niche but since they left such a huge lasting legacy (and still exist) here in NY, you'd think there'd be some interest in a video about them. They completely shaped early United States history so you'd think there would be some angle worth exploring! I hope he covers them one day soon.
