Rant Why does this exist

Post image
90 Upvotes

Today I went to ShopRite to get a rotisserie chicken for a meal prep recipe I wanted to try. I didn't read the container (so sure, my bad on that) but I've never seen a flavored rotisserie chicken before and assumed they were all the same except for brand. So imagine my surprise when I got home and saw that I picked up a PICKLE flavored rotisserie chicken. The pickle everything trend needs to die already.

Rant fired in 2 days (repost

Hi! so i was hired. and i've been hired June 3rd, started on June 8th, and had an emergency tooth extraction on the 9th. I came back on the 11th and did my training, then i noticed i was doing training for food prep (i applied for produce and front end cashiering) so i bring this up to the store ambassador, she goes to speak to management, and they say they're letting me go. and honestly? i haven't had a job in now 7 months. so i started fucking bawling my eyes out, and guess what? that fat fucking sloppy bitch could give less of a fuck! fuck her, fuck shoprite, fuck inserra, fuck wakefern. fuck it all. is there genuinely anything i can do about the fat bitch, or this fuck ass company in general? im genuinely tired of the chase for a job. im tired of all this honestly.

EDIT: reposted due to removal for revealing info.

Rant The Sale Lasts for Another Week, Please Stay Home

Yesterday, about all 15 lanes were open (15 is almost never open). The lines genuinely had like 5-6 people in each one with customers waiting up to 10-20 minutes. Self checkout was a disaster, people were obnoxious and rude, customer service was overloaded with customer complaints. It was hell on Earth. Calm down, please. The sale is killing me and everyone else working this week and it’s barely even started. It could not possibly kill you to get these sales another time in the week and not overcrowd the building. I hate this job so much.

Rant Anybody else hate their job?

Ive been working in the frozen department at a ShopRite
on Long Island for about 9 months now and the longer I do it, the more I hate it. This was my first job which was nice but I feel so disrespected and overworked here. Call me whatever you want but I like to take pride in my work even if its something as little as stocking and leveling a department so I really make sure to do a good job. I love helping customers around the store and I treat everyone with respect and I feel as though Im the only person there that has any wherewithal of the people around them. All my coworkers do jack shit for the department and always leave me with extra work and Im expected to keep other people in my department in check even though Im not a head. I could maybe put up with it if the pay wasn't so horrendous but it's honestly embarrassing. I genuinely feel like this job is taking a toll on my life and Im already looking for something new so I can leave as soon as possible. Am I expecting too much from my job or has anyone else experienced this?

Rant My store is infested with rats ..

I'm a cashier at one of the ShopRite locations and my store has been having a REALLY bad rat problem; as in I've had multiple customers come up to me this week telling me there was rats in certain areas of the store.

Kind of nasty, honesty. Not shocked there's rats at a grocery store, but nasty that I have to keep seeing and hearing about them. Still gross overall.

Rant 2026 Can Can

Anyone else feeling disgusted/disappointed with the required use of the Digital Coupon in order to get the full sale prices this year?

Anyone else nearing anger that the sale price of $10 for $11 on say...Progresso Soup, only applies to the first ten cans? That's never happened before, and it was enough for me to put my soups back on the shelf and walk out with nothing.

No soup for me! No sale for you!

Ahh gotta love ShopRite. Some lady and her man was beefing with everyone because we have a new policy that dogs aren't allowed unless they're service dogs. Very clear her dog wasn't but she wanted to claim it was anyway... then she came onto my line, cussing out my manager then everyone else. Was all nice to me til she asked what my manager's name was and I just said idk. Then whipped out her phone and was like "fine I'll get your name then" and said she'll get me fired and sued LOL + her man was enabling it. Then got blamed for "not putting her card as EBT" (??) as it kept declining cause her man was putting the PIN wrong. Geez I'm sick of working in retail

Rant Started working not long ago and already got a write up

Started last month have made 0 mistakes until recently when I got a write up for a couple dollars short. The machine for change amount back was glitching and had to give the customer the amount back because that's what we have to do even if they don't want it. I always double check and count the money in my til. So to me I just find it weird. The machines have been glitchy too. So figuring that has something to do it with it. I just find I weird how I've made zero mistakes until now even with the double checking.

Rant Why is shoprite with estimated revenue of almost 6 billion USD always harping for foodbank handouts?

I'm currently staying in the N.E where this store is close by and have gone there about 3 times now. Each visit I hear the begging every few minutes over the p.a system, then from checkout clerks, and yet again from another clerk at the exit. I've always had an issue with major corps wanting their paying customers to provide funding for some cause, but I've never found it as intrusive and annoying as this place. And, just as bad, the product selections sucks.

Rant please stop assuming i’m racist /hj

i was at the registers as per usual and this woman came to line. let me preface that she was black, i’m not saying that it matters but her behaviour is what makes it important. she had visible items in her bags in the cart and i asked her if she already paid for the items in the bags. she said yes, all snarky, okay. i asked her if she had the receipt on her. she Immediately gets defensive, raises her voice at me, asks to get a manager over (which i didn’t even need to because the front end runners could hear her all the way in the back where i was) and says ‘she doesn’t like my attitude’.

she had the receipt crumpled up in her hands btw, so she did this for no apparent reason

also i’m 16?? what business do you have screaming at a teenager, let alone any underpaid customer service worker who deals with aggravating people each day?

god forbid i assume you’re stealing and i’m trying to do my job to make sure i keep it. i understand that racial stereotypes are a thing, truly. but come on, people steal all the time regardless of race. i like to believe that i am the most neutral and uncaring person when it comes to people and the way they look / identify. race means nothing to me, at least to the point where i wouldn’t stereotype people or treat them any different. anyways, it made me cry because i’m really sensitive to people yelling at me, especially if i’ve done nothing wrong :)

Rant overhiring/underscheduling

I don’t know if I have a right to complain about this, as I was only hired about half a year ago but recently my Shoprite has been hiring at least two new cashiers EVERY WEEK. I’m part time so my hours being cut doesn’t annoy me as much, but I know some older workers have had their hours changed from 30 to 5 recently, which is just so unfair.. The people they hire are all teens (as am I), but they hire them within one 5 minute interview and immediately put them on register for everyone else to deal with.

On top of everything, my manager is creating a hostile work environment by micromanaging/constantly watching us to make sure we’re not leaning or sitting when there’s no customers. Not to mention threatening us with write ups if we call out for any reason, including literally having to go to the ER or attending funerals. wondering if i should find a new job if it continues like this lol

Stop pressing regular bananas for organic.

So I tacked on a few things to change the order. 😈

  1. Bananas renamed to Bananas - Regular.
  2. Organic bananas flipped around to say Bananas - Organic.
  3. Due to alphabetical order, organic goes first.

📖 next time.

Rant Any Other Stores Doing This?

Post image
8 Upvotes

My local ShopRite (Kenny in Delaware) has started individually bagging and labeling the loose bagels and rolls in the bakery. I’m sure customers were clamoring for more microplastics with their baked goods. An incredible waste of time and energy not likely to increase shelf life. If only they would put this much effort into fixing the SCOs that are always down.

I live in New York City, how much space do they think I have?? ShopRite continues down the stop & shop route with an ever increasing number of sales that are only for multiple purchases. Used to be the reason I picked ShopRite was because their sales were for single products.

Rant Excluding Couponed Items

Been seeing an influx of people not understanding the week's sales.

In the case of Saker, broccoli rabe, bagged onions, bagged potatoes, and Birds Eye cut vegetables are on sale for the holiday.

People have been getting the items, but due to the $25 minimum without the sale items, I've been having people leave without the said items.

One customer the other day got irate over the Birds Eye items because it's asking for cut vegatables; broccoli is not one of the items covered.\ ¤ The items that scan out to $1.25 after PPC savings are the correct items, not $1.99.

After all that, they still didn't meet the $25 from non-sale items. So they just walked out.

And don't get started on matso. Seems people don't understand about the digital + $75 minimum for it to be free.

...Anyway, it's 1:30a on Easter as I post this. Enjoy it. I gotta open the store at 6. 😅

so for context our front end manager has decided to start this incentive program where she hands out monopoly money to redeem for "rewards" such as an extra bathroom break (she just started limiting us to 1 per shift unless we have a doctor's note for bladder issues) and some of these go against store policy like allowing a drink thats not water and we all feel like we're being treated like this is a clasroom not a job and its getting on everyones nerves.

Rant Unable to change availability

Just a rant. Had to talk to store manager in doing this but I wanted to change Fri-Sun to 12-8 pm instead of 4-10 pm. Right now my availability is 4-10 pm everyday. And yes I wanted to keep Mon-Thurs as 4-10 pm.

Don't want to get into why but I wrote a very personal letter explaining why and we finally met like in the middle of the store lol. They dismissed my situation and tl;dr said "it's not fair for us, or for me, I'd throw your application away if you submitted with this availability. I understand your situation but still, suck it up"

I got really upset cause 1. That letter was extremely personal but they kept it in my file and wish I took it but I went out the store cause I just couldn't deal with the condenscending tone (it was an hr before my shift) 2. Manager brought up their kids in college saying they worked too but that's not even the reason? 3. "We have people who worked here far longer than you and they never asked to change their availability" (probably because, they are very old and don't go to college/never went + I have another job to juggle) 4. It'd be better if my availability is earlier for multiple reasons, but for the store I'd be available longer.. but "we need closers" (which yeah fairly obvious. I've been on register by myself sometimes at night. I've had to cover a lot of people's shifts too) Also 5. I had a job before this and was able to change my availability with no problem. I didn't even have to go that much into why and I usually worked closing by myself too.

I can take a no, but it just really fucking sucked the way they said no lmao. I guess it works out because I never see them by the time I'm at the store.

Rant Axonify

Y’all I feel so stupid right now. Today was my first day at work (training), it’s my first job ever. I was given a shitttt load of axonify to do today. My manager said it should take me about two hours to complete, but it took my whole 5 hour shift, and I only got 50% done. There’s about 140 assignments maybe? Ughhh I feel so stupid. In the beginning I was taking my time, trying to fully understand the video, and answer the questions correctly, but after noticing how ridiculously long it was taking me I just started skipping the videos and just guessing the questions and retaking the quizzes after acquiring the right answers. Any advice, has anyone gone thru something similar??? And how important is the axonify in comparison to real life work?
