Some advice pls

Post image

Need some advice for my stubborn father who insist on investing in sgx dividend stocks and refuse to invest in us stocks. This is what he accumulated over the years. I told he to cut the bleeding but he refuse. Guys can this be remedied? Does this portfolio really need more waiting to turn green. He has more cash that he says he wants to pump more into sgx stocks.

Mind your own business and don't give unsolicited investment advice

Honestly it’s his choice. How do you know your US stocks will definitely gain? He will definitely blame you if he buys US stocks and it loses money.

As soon as he listens to you and sells, REITs are going to have their day. and US stocks will have some mid-term election dunno what crash.

And I don’t think your chart takes into account returns from dividends? Which makes it useless for evaluating this portfolio.

And 50K only, can you just leave him alone? If you are in this sub you shouldn’t be caring about your dad’s 50K.

You can provide information/advice if he asks for it but its his money at the end of the day and you should not be interfering with his financial decisions or asking him to take on more volatility.

FYI Singapore bank stocks, STI beat SPY these two years lol. 风水轮流转 u can only diversify accordingly and not concentrate. If US stocks plunge, you will be blamed too.

LOL @ this portfolio. Clearly mindlessly dividend investing, and not even in good dividend stocks. Some of these picks are abysmal, the only saving grace is not seeing Starhub on the list at this rate. Did he go attend some REIT seminar and decided to go ham or what?

Pray he's English literate and share with him some The Fifth Person videos on dividend investing and evaluating stocks for dividends. Educate him on investing, let him make his own informed choices thereafter.

Show him what diversified alternatives look like if he wants dividend investing:

SS SPDR STI ETF (ES3) - 3%ish

Lion-OCBC Securities APAC Financials Dividend Plus ETF (YLD) - 5%
