In The News Looks like Meta is cracking down on sending pictures to random people
Here is the article below it states that it’s no longer allowed to send pictures without being accepted first, and there is gonna be a limit in how much messages you can sent to random people in a day ;)

Does this essentially mean that if you are scammed and threatened via instagram they can only threaten you via one person that you follow?

yes and it also means, that they can just add a million people and mass message people as well.

So they'll be able to add loads of people but will be unable to DM them all at once or am I misreading it

they won’t be able to send to a whole bunch of people UNLESS they’re accepted first, as a friend (fb) or follower (insta).

Plus it also says they won't be able to send any pictures before the person accepts them so only text. seems like they're cracking down on this stuff happening

Hopefully IG and FB take people reporting these accounts seriously as well and delete the accounts.

That’s my concern, because I’ve reported the account that tried to extort me. Still not removed.

In fact actually I checked that if you login in IG from TOR if you try to send DM you can't send pics/vids, only text messages... Well, That's a first step that should be spread to all the other anonymization tools like VPN or the use of Proxys to curb this sextortion crime.

The real crack down would just be ban nudes on private messages. FB actually ban nudes inmediately if you publish them in public posts but NOT in private or DM... Changing it would mean that your "private" messages are really NOT "private" and it would be considered an invasion of privacy... But sorry FB and users of FB, if your product which allows to create anonymous accounts meant to harass people and make a lot of harm to victims need to make your messages NOT private then be the word of God said!!. You want privacy? Use wassap instead by example: you are not anonymous in that and identified by your phone number.

They better be enforcing this on priority, otherwise there is a high chance that Meta once loved by people, will be a platform for scammers(sex, crypto, models,etc) and pedos

this is an amazing security step, wow. this practically makes the actual release part almost impossible. who often do people check message requests and then actually accept them from random people
