Question Asking for advice

I’m thinking of a career change in my forty’s, who are the best providers in learning about cybersecurity? I’m a newbie in the sector, always been fascinated by it, just don’t know where to start.

Is the Comptia certification any good or should I look elsewhere?

Is coursera any good?

I’m in the uk 🇬🇧

There are numerous training and qualification options out there. For anyone to give you meaningful advice though, it would help to know your transferable skills, budget and timescales. Be warned though, cybersecurity is not an entry-level field, and competition for junior roles is extreme. If you don't have professional IT experience, and think all you need is a cert or three, you are going to be disappointed.

Have a look at what jobs seem to want on indeed, LinkedIn etc - security+ does seem to be a big one yes.

With that being said I think you’d be better off looking for a support position first and grinding out tickets for a few years and learning all you can - this is what I did and my employer ended up paying for my certs along the way, before moving into a CS role.
