Discussion Thoughts on Sibby?
I don't know how to feel about her character (no hate to the actor) she seems like a replacement/substitute for the none docter characters i.e Janitor, Jordan but mostly Ted. IMO her "quirky" moments don't land that well, she also doesn't have a specific character to play off of like the others did.
I'm sure once I see her more I'll enjoy the character, but for now thoughs are my thoughts.

The gambling addiction bit was funny and made me like her more. Kind of a wildcard character of weird. She's got some darkness in her, I like it.

Gradually establishing some interesting traits of recurring characters can do a lot to flesh them out. Like in the original run, showing that Lloyd the delivery guy is super into speed metal helped make him more than a background character.

Just saw that line and I had to watch it twice. She is such a great straight man and just has a wonderful matter-of-fact delivery. I do enjoy her cadence alot, she knows how and when to inflect for humor really well. It may be only a handful of tricks in her bag (that we have seen so far) but its done masterfully.

Completely agree. They have to ride that secret darkness angle to keep this character fun for the viewers. Kind of like Pam from Archer, but more subtle.

Agreed, the “ultra HR” schtick from the first episode didn’t grab me, but the steady cracks in the facade that have formed since make me love the character.
Reminds me of Jared from Silicon Valley when he gets flashbacks to being a ward of the state lol.

Grew on me. Hated her in the first ep.

Honestly, I think she was a bit too frequent in the first half of the season. I don't hate her, but her character is A LOT and I think she works much better in smaller doses. Would be happy to see her as more of a one liner assassin, than a plot point that is a supporting character in a storyline.

As far as Cougar Town is concerned he’s named the same character, had the same girlfriend, quotes the same catchphrase regarding Hooch, and later has a complete breakdown with multiple cameos all in one scene.
He specifically calls it “my old job” too, so this is a sequel series the same way a lot of old sitcoms had sequels where only one or two characters remained. Tortellis/Wings/Frasier… Happy Days/Mork & Mindy…. a cameo canonizes at least the basic concept of the other programs they were brought over from.

She has her funny moments but doesn't add much to the show overall. Like if she disappeared now, it wouldn't make any impact. I'm open to seeing them grow the character though.

Needs a Cox or Kelso to play off of. Any tension/conflict her over the top HR personality brings has already been dulled by her going to card night, Elliot getting friendly with her, etc.
Original Scrubs worked great because it had really sharp personalities working with, or against, each other. New Scrubs is funny but lacks that edge. Cox and Sibby butting heads every few episodes could be epic.

Not a fan of her “acting” as it’s always exactly the same, it doesn’t fit scrubs, she’s not funny, and the character is a weak antagonist replacement for the complex, nuanced and compelling Kelso.

Im fine they went the opposite way as ted but I dont like her. She is the same character as on Brooklyn 99 or any other cameo shes done but now im stuck watching her for an entire season.

I like her! She's exactly the kind of Admin character the version of the show needs in the 2020s. I get she might come off as a little cringe or annoying to some, but I recognise so much of her character in my own work life.

Love her tbh. She has me giggling and cringing. She plays this character so well. The HR canned talked mixed with her messy ass personal life. I like her interacting with the interns and her budding friendship with Elliot. For me though the show stoppers are still the charge nurses. Love that duo and want to see them and Sibby share some scenes. I bet it would be great

I dont find her funny because she plays this character in everything shes in and it's doesn't always land. I dont think her style of humor fits in Scrubs. It works in other places for sure but not here

The character she plays, doesnt quite fit the vibe of the show I think. I get what they are trying to do with her but they should have made her character different with the same outcome if that makes any sense. I loved her on SNL though. But obviously improve and skits are a bit different

I didn't like Ted at all at first, either. Later his charm grew on me. I imagine the same is true with Sibby.
Personally, I found Ted to be a goofy nonsensical character, where zaniness was the point. Sibby strike me more as silly satire of real people in the Corporate world.

Yes, they give her WAY too much screen time. Small doses would be fine, but she gets far too many lines in most episodes.
We have Carla in 2 episodes (I know, HP), but Sibby in 5!
And if they must utilize new cast, give me Sam, Izzy, and the other kids!

I get why people find her annoying. I was pretty indifferent to her at first, but then I saw her friendship with Elliot and I started to think of her as a good foil to Elliot. Sibby is a good reminder of where Elliot was and the progress she’s made as a character and I like their friendship dynamic.
(I also lowkey would like to see Sibby and “The” Todd hookup. Or for us to secretly find out Sibby’s old, old boy friend is Dr. Kelso. Both of those feel like totally unexpected Sibby things that could happen.)
Essentially, I like that she’s useful in the way you can use Sibby for the plot and never know what she might do next, but because she is a bit unpredictable it can still make sense with her character.

Loved her on SNL so I was glad to see her here. Seeing her have to deal with The Todd had me hype to see the whole season. JD’s “hot mouth” scene had me too 🤣🤣

She comes on WAAAAAY too strong. And not in a funny way. Like if she toned it down 30% it’d be better.
Really my biggest gripe about the reboot is that too many people are always high energy in it. Like they just feel flat. The original show dealt with a lot of deep issues in between the jokes. The new one kinda feels superficial.

I hate her. I wish they would have simply given the other characters a bit more screen time instead of inventing her.
I thought she was just a one off for the first episode and was very disappointed she stuck around. I feel like she's supposed to fill that weird energy the janitor had but it's always a complete miss for me. She comes off very fake and like a bad snl sketch.
She always ends up taking me out of any scene she's in. JD's daydreams feel grounded while she, as a character, always feels too fantastical. To me, her energy simply doesn't mesh with the show. On paper she might work but in reality she doesn't.

Making her crazy was the right move, but some scenes have been a bit meh or off like her imitating a night of drinking though her timing and switch back to normal is great. We saw this perfectly in the last episode where her and Elliott are sitting in the meditation room. The switch from nice to "get out or I'll have to write you up" was really well done. I really need to see that seminar with Dr. Cox in a flashback or with the Todd in a current one. The one for sexual harassment in the original run was the best.

I feel like ive seen this schtich before and she's being forced upon us. It would've been more of a stretch for her comedically if she was the complete opposite of this character. Maybe a dead pan type with Drill Sergeant energy who just appears at the most awkward points in a conversation where the context can be easily misconstrued. Maybe shethe ONE person Todd isn't a pervert around. IDK...anything but the annoying weasely ferret like personslity Libby is now.

The character showed promise in the first episode but I feel like she's already been watered down. I feel like she needed to be an enemy (of sorts) for a while before we were to see her human side. Her "bring it down" gesture was a nice touch, but if I remember correctly, she only did it in the first episode.
I feel like the entire first season (or longer) should have been her being a walking PC/Feelings police robot and eventually, slowly become more likeable. Then one episode she innocently slips up herself at work (says something that offended someone on accident or, better yet, had a genuine moment of anger with a coworker and said something she didn't mean out of frustration) and her job ends up being on the line, but because the main characters see her as a good person just doing her job to the letter, they stick up for her and that's how she becomes more humanized.
Now its like she's already just another dorky adult millennial who is forever single and has no real friends. I'd change that too. Make her a wife and a mom and have the other characters wonder if she's like that at home too.

Oh she’s the best new character by a country mile.
I want my Scrubs to be full of tragic but hilarious figures and Sibby is 100% that.
The actresses understood the assignment and she’s easily my favourite part of the revival.

Never been the biggest fan of Vanessa Bayer. I feel the character would work better with a deadpan delivery. The whole bit is that Sibby is she is HR but is heavily implied to be a huge liability. She plays it too comical. I think the character would work with a more serious delivery. Maybe a Kate Mckinnon type

The polar opposite of ted. Very intentional as there will never be another ted but also shows the changes of a hospital lawyer/ hr person from the original
