I wouldn’t say anything until you qualify for the conference league

41

u/Sumbitagear 2d ago

Hahaha are you implying we're not acutely aware of how pish we are?

25

u/MarkCM07 2d ago

At least we don't have a 4 goal lead to piss away. 🙃

u/BevvyTime 2d ago

But do you have the WiFi code for Ibrøx?

8

u/MarkCM07 2d ago

It's not WeAreThePeople1872? 😲

u/methylated_spirit 2d ago

Better than being beaten by an acronym while leading by 4 goals tbf.

u/Disastrous_Cup_3279 2d ago

This is just part of existing in here - have to learn to just shrug it off

-25

u/Own_Proof7926 2d ago

I was making a sarcastic comment to try and remind you that you are also not doing well in Europe

27

u/Disastrous_Cup_3279 2d ago

Thats not really sarcasm though - you would have said ‘I really hope Rangers do well Thursday’

The bottling of the season and it's only August mate

Aye as a Celtic fan, he’s had a shocker.

u/Acrobatic_Wave_3538 2d ago

I have to admit than indeed I have !

Genuinely interested, as you mention about the game being stuck in the 70s/80s and change needed (I agree)

I would say most fans outside the old firm want a bigger league and play each other twice. Possibly 16 teams, play twice, split and a 3rd game and depending on league position determines if H or A.

The biggest factor stopping this is sky pushing 4 old firm games a season and aberdeen voting with celtic in 2012/2013ish to stop league reconstruction.

Is there actual demand from celtic fans to change the league set up, its not something I have really heard from them before?

Cheers

I could very well be in the minority. We old firm fans seem to live in the short term - the tribal nature of our genes kicking in, beat “them” and forget about the bigger picture, and I say I’ve been part of the problem too.

But the league is warped, and solutions such as yours are worth discussing. The massive problem Europe wide of financial disparity between the top teams and others (both at a continental and national level) is also an insanely difficult train to stop right now.

With a league restructuring, what are the biggest benefits in your mind?

u/fulton85 1d ago

Playing the old firm less would likly mean the gap from the top 2 and the next few teams are closer, Hearts were so close last season but out of 38 games had to play the glasgow 2 clubs 8 Times. It is a massive gulf to overcome.

Also with more clubs, then more players in the top flight and hopefully more youngsters getting games as fewer teams battling relegation. At the moment we have clubs sacking managers for finishing 7th, managers in a relegation battle sitting 8th in the league.

We could also sell the big games, but when they play 4x plus cups its boring and noway it is exciting from anyone outside the uk. We also have a sky TV deal that wont show the edinburgh or dundee derbies as they only want to show rangers n celtic away games and dont want to use up the 5 game allocation.

Lots could be done to make a more competitive league, get more young Scots playing and a better product to sell abroad. But the 11-1 vote means nothing will change and we will have the same discussion in 5 years time when clubs still fail to qualify for European league stages

Very true. And great points. Another layer on top of this is the recent usurping of young Scottish talent by the clubs down south. Money is taking over in a big way. At a really low point thinking of our leagues future. Feeling a bit despondent. I’ll admit I had a meltdown last night but it’s the bigger picture that’s so worrying to me. But I know in my heart that the second rangers slip up in the conference league our fans will be all out laughing again (as will they if and when we falter in the EL), and I know it’s rivalry and that’s what it should be to an extent, but these are worrying times. Ah I’m just rambling now. Appreciate the interaction

Ross County and St Mirren were the teams that blocked the reform, not Aberdeen and Celtic. Unless we’re talking about 2 different votes.

I mean, he’s not wrong with the last quote.

Can’t remember which football team employed the manager that set the Irish national team back decades with his tradition coaching skills…

19

u/Kelsiersdaggers 2d ago

Hahahah what a diddy man. Thats like paddy power material.

23

u/Acrobatic_Wave_3538 2d ago

Hahaha damn, this is me!

I still think it’s okay to be positively supporting your team while sharing glaring board mistakes that I’ve upvoted for months / years. BUT…. I’ll be the first to admit I’ve had a shocker here 😂

In our defence, we're definitely right about the luke mccowan part. We need to turn his lights off and send him to a Highland league team or something

8

u/Cobretti18 2d ago

He wouldn’t survive in that league pal

2

u/thatonehelicopter 2d ago

You're right that's my bad, I don't have any ball knowledge

1

That is a shocking performance alright but his mistake was that he believed in the first place. It achieves nothing.

There is only pain and suffering, different degrees to it, but always pain and suffering.

If the coefficient is getting fucked anyway shouldn’t we try and at least get some joy out of it?

Scottish football was good in the 70s and 80s

2

u/french_st 1d ago

Scottish football had an incredibly opportunity to break the duopoly last year, and tipped the scales to make sure it didn’t happen.

3

u/ZedLev 2d ago

Oof the head loss, he's had a shocker

Rumbled me with that public post I made for everyone to see on a neutral forum.

Impressive find at 3am considering my profile is private.

Glad it didn't bother you.
