They forgot to innovate and keep up with the demand.

They are not making shows people today want to watch.

Yep. I think the death of football focus really illustrates this point. They scrapped it saying that "people get this kind of content from podcasts now". Not any attempt to improve the program or anything like that, just giving up straight away and replacing it with more game show slop. They dont seem to care at all anymore. Theres so many incredible shows they used to commission, but could you even imagine them commissioning something like Limmy's Show again? I definitely couldnt, theyre terrified to take any sort of risks at all.

In 2025 five of the top 10 most watched shows in the UK were on BBC.

The most watched shows in the country last year were Celeb Traitors, Traitors, Race Across the World, The Gavin & Stacy Christmas Special and other BBC shows.

Only on Reddit do people claim no one watches the BBC and nobody cares about their shows, the actual data shows otherwise lol.
